I'm almost tempted to blame Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart for this. Not because they were sitting around trying to chastise comedians who didn't fit their political views or anything but because they did their shyt so well where they were able to combine incisive political commentary with comedy and I think you now have a whole generation of folks who now have made political opinions and comedy inextricably linked, much less can't find comedy in things that don't reinforce their beliefs like it did when they used to watch Colbert and Stewart.
