nope, she'll fall off hard like Viola Davis did, she's the complete antithesis of a leading Hollywood lady or love interest, she'll struggle to get roles and no one will be talking about her in a years time. It's sad but it's unfortunately true. Also Non-Stop is a Michelle Dockery vehicle, she's the main female in the movie.

@Box Cutta summed her situation up perfectly a few weeks back

The backlash (If you can even call it as such) is the result of Cac/Kike Hollywood condescendingly shoving her down our throats. It seems forced. It's not earnest. Something is off-putting.

Black folks, and I'd guess that Coli members in particular, are very sensitive to how we are portrayed in the media. We've seen it ALL and are very acclimated to the ebbs and flows of our representation.

Lupita comes out of nowhere playing an abused slave, is dark skinned with a shaved head....she looks like the exact opposite of the kind of woman that Hollywood/the Media tends to market in the media. Is it because whites have finally had a change of heart? Is it because she played a slave and white liberals wanna feel "good" about themselves?

I don't see whites outsides of the media sweating her like that....go to white forums, go to twitter or tumblr...it's blacks, and the liberal media, hyping her. Why is there a dissonance between regular whites and fukking people writing in magazines?

It's condescending....I feel like these people are treating her like a pet.

I want Lupita to win. I hope she is a down sister and not a bedwench as the rumors have stated, but there is a coyness surrounding her right now that rubs me the wrong way.

I feel like.....the people propping up Lupita are the same ones that have propped up Rupaul all these years. White Gay Men that see her as some sort of "canvas" or "novelty".

And as I've pointed out before...none of this hype appears to have resulted in any actual roles yet. It's just a bunch of hot air. You'll never hear her name being thrown out there to play a superhero. You'll never hear her name being put out there to play the sexy love interest. So what's the fukking deal?

All I know is that after all of this, they better give her that fukking Oscar.

The last part of what @Box Cutta ties in heavily into my next point. Look at Margot Robbie, another actress(who perfectly fits the type of young actress that Hollywood likes to push) and newcomer like Lupita who has risen to prominence this year thanks to her role in The Wolf of Wall Street, similarly to Lupita in 12 years. Guess which of the actresses has been cast in two films recently?, hint: she's blonde. Robbie is scheduled to play the female lead in Z for Zacharia next year and the love interest in the 2016 Tarzan movie. What's Lupita doing?, nothing as she isn't getting the calls.

In the pic above we've got Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Olsen and Lea Seydoux in addition to Lupita. Guess which actress hasn't got anything upcoming for 2014 or 2015 .

When the execs were looking for actresses to play Jane(the attractive and beautiful love interest) in Tarzan, you think Lupita's name came up?

as she's the complete antithesis of a Hollywood love interest. That's why I find this whole faux facade surrounding her to be condescending as fukk.



Like I said where them love interest or leading roles at? why isn't her name in the running for anything? . Answer: because she aint getting them calls.

Its even worse. The oscar curse indirectly means she'll try and "stay on that caliber" and end up overlooking good projects OR she'll just get passed up for things by people who assume she wouldn't be interested OR she'll just understand how many few roles are actually out here for her.

Even if she didn't win the Oscar, she still wouldn't be getting roles.
