Why is it called "homoPHOBIA"?

How do you know how I said that?
You say you don't get the term "homophobia" because you're not afraid of homosexuals you just disagree with their lifestyles, think it's demonic, something about fakkits, and anti-same sex. So since you don't want to be labeled a homophobe I suggested that maybe bigot would be a term with a definition you'd find more fitting:That jives more with what you're saying does it not? I didn't make any statements about your actions or infer you were any type of person besides what you said yourself.
That's an extremely narrow view of etymology. Words are formed in a ton of different ways. Homophobia is half of the word homosexual and phobia. There's a ton of words you could try and argue don't make sense if you only tried to break them down to their Latin, Geek, Old English, etc. roots.

i have to ask. why are people in here so concerned about gay people for especially when they claim to be heterosexuals that aren't bicurious? like... wtf? you guys talk about gay people EVERYDAY. something isn't right here.

yeah, you may have been raised by your parents, your church or whoever to fear homosexuality. that's NOT your fault. however, as a grown person, it is YOUR fault if you continue to carry in a mindset damaging to others that have DONE nothing to you. you clearly are NOT educated to what homosexuality is therefore, your fear at this point is irrational. as for you talking about gay people "forcing" people to accept their "lifestyle", that's very ignorant and funny at the same time because once upon a time, all the disadvantaged groups in society from blacks to women had the same thing said about them by people who were intolerant about them too. they were like "black people wanting to be in the same room as white people. who do they think they are? they want us to accept them as human beings when they're basically the product of monkeys", "she, as a woman, wants to have the rights as a human being instead of staying at home all day, making my dinner, and popping out my babies all day. who does she think she is? she wants me to tolerate her because she's a woman and women aren't the same thing as man. the bible says that women are inferior so women don't deserve the same rights as MEN do." yep, people WERE saying those things. whenever you say that about gay people, think about that. i don't know if you're a nonwhite person, a woman or classified as a person in a disadvantage group BUT if you are, you are basically being an ignorant ass by making this thread.

but that term is so vague, yet carries a very negative connotation. Am I pretty firm in my opinion that same sex couples are in direct opposition to my own personal morals? Sure. Is that likely to change anytime soon? Doubtful.
But I'm also pretty firm in my opinion that Wendy's sea salt fries are far superior to McDonald's. Or that the NY Jets ain't shyt. Those likely won't be changing anytime soon either.
Yet no one would label me a bigot for the latter.

the whole gay marriage, equality, and equal rights for gays is simply us just asking to be treated like normal human beings like everybody else in society without being discriminated or bashed for who we are. we want to be able to be open about who we are without people such as yourself threatening us because you're insecure with yourself or simply miseducated. we're NOT bothering you at all with our sexuality just as we're NOT bothered by yours. no gay person is running up to you with a gun to your head telling YOU to support us or die. we're just like YOU, human beings. we just want to go about living our lives in peace with the world giving us hell for it. understand? we're NOT different than you. that's a MYTH that was started by straight people. the only thing is different we are just a bunch of people that lives the same sex more or less than and some of us think that we're the opposite gender than what we're born with. there's NO big deal about it. it's just like people that are born with black skin, people born with white skin and etc. we're all the same even though society would like to convince you otherwise.
