Why is it not respectable to be a rapper from the suburbs?

But who breh? I cant think of one rapper who does this.

Most of the dudes frontin just are dudes who came up from nothing too. Rick Ross, etc etc.
Drake & Iggy just off the dome ,
but you're right & Rick Ross is a huge representation of whats wrong with the rap game overall which is authenticity . How is a self procliammed key pusher , who's been exposed for being a C.O is still accepted into the rap game despite all of that ? If it was the 90s nikkas would have disposed of the nikkas whole entire existence .

The game is so diluted now a days , you went from the source , vibe , Smack dvd , sub zero , cocaine city etc to get news from hip hop to noisey and complex which are from whites which I'll be making a thread on shortly .

I never said any of them do it haa all rappers are fake. If you want to be a rapper you have a mental disorder, it's a personality defect. I can't really think of anyone who was successful that came from the burbs either. I've heard Ice Cube was from the burbs.

People do care. With all the outlets these days, everyday someone is "exposed". or is questioned about who they are,.

Ok I can see that. But did the egg come first or the chicken u dig? Do people front because if they are their true selves yall would call em lame or boring?
people front because they are ashamed of who they really are and think a certain image will give them more recognition when it reality it backfires. Me personally i judge a person based off their character...honesty is a huge factor no matter if its a rapper, singer, regular nikka...thats just how i feel :yeshrug:

J. Cole is like the only suburb nikka thats seeing success because he been keeping it real since day 1. He raps about shyt the average suburban kid goes through: chasing females, having sex for the first time, stress from school, the struggle of trying to make it on a straight path, etc which is why his fanbase is so loyal and strong.

We make jokes about the nikka from time 2 time but that nikka is 1 of the realest in the game right now

Not about where you're from. Its about keeping shyt 100% real.

A lot of these dudes from the suburbs try to put on this facade like they're criminals or like they went through all these struggles. Nobody wants to hear that fake shyt.

i can't think of any rappers from the suburbs off the top of my head. But if a rapper from the suburbs came out with trill subject matter that i liked? i would have no problem supporting.

Suburb people struggle too. Live is not about money breh. Ppl lose friends, family, shyt happens just like any place. I know rappers who rap about being different and their lens of the world. Who grew up being the only black kid in class who was too black for the whites, but black ppl wouldnt mess with duke cuz he was too white. So his whole musical concept revolves around figuring life out as a loner. It's pretty interesting.

What if you was from the suburbs and still put in work

And that's another thing, just cuz your from the hood doesnt mean you put in work. I have nikkas from the burbs who don't rap but are just getting out from facing 10 to 15 for atttempted murder that got dismissed as self-defense. I also know nikkas who came from pverty and the hood, and were good kids. (ahem.. kendrick) and they get a pass not only to rap but to talk about the lives they never lived.

Mental disorder? I don't think so. A lot of the burb rappers I know, just have a passion for art and creating. It's not even about materistic things like bd bytches, or money. A lot of them really genuinely love just creating. I just dont see why when a rapper raps about being the best or whatever, he's suddenly tryna be tough. Rap is competitive. I think ppl see some of my homies who are good people, with the tattoos, the fact they smashin hoes, smoking loud. They connect those things with gangsta, and then people call em fake or tryna be something they aren't.

Lol. Yea those little fukk boi problems are interesting to you.

To dudes who are struggling to eat, struggling to stay alive, struggling to stay outta prison, shyt like that isn't interesting. Its corny. People who grew up in poverty and people who grew up in the burbs just have a totally different outlook on life.

Rap doesn't have to be about struggles, crime, or poverty.

Some of my favorite rap songs are are about abstract ideas and shyt.

But nobody wants to hear about some dudes average ass suburban problems. If you're gonna be a rapper from the burbs making concept songs should be your focus. Cuz nobody wants to hear your life story.

Right, I can see that. But if a cat raps about being from the burbs, not pullin hoes, dumb shyt he does or did, basically being seen in the eys of the worl as "a square" who would listen?

I dont feel a person like drake is ever really fronting either. I think hes an example of a mixed male who grew up with mney and oppurutnities and had the balls to try to rap. He sang and rapped about women and made it big. But not at the expense of ppl callin him a soft vagina every time they could. Maybe duke is just rapping about what he knows.

Ahhhh I see. Ehhh random shade breh but okay.

You are right, it does interest me. I'm not here to say I'm not corny breh. Im from the burbs. But I'm the only nikka in my huge fam, whos family made it out. So i know both sides. I got cousins getting clapped and dying every year. Nikkas that I love. I'm not a rapper breh, I'm just saying I can relate to dude who feel almost cursed to come from the burbs. We had a huge discussion about it the other week.

I can see what you're saying about that tho. Even then though, all the cats who grew up in the hood have geniune friendships, Brothers who would go to war with em if things popped off. You wont find loyalty in the burbs.

Maybe not all of them have a mental defect, but I've been in the industry before and I have friends that are rappers. For the most part they the most bytch made sensitive people out there. For every J.Cole there is 5 Rick Ross's.
