Why is it so hard for women to just chill and not feel the need to "do something"??

I just got into an argument with my wife and 18 year old daughter last night over this mind state .

My wife, son and daughter are on quarantine and I’m working remote from home. I suggested when I got off yesterday we watch The Wire. They’ve never seen it and I’ve been telling them to watch it for years.

I tell my son. He’s pissed off he has to get off XBox and come downstairs and watch the show with me but agrees. I get off work, work out, take a shower, make some popcorn, set up Season 1 and knock on my daughters door so we can spend family time together watching the show. She opens her door in full makeup putting on her earrings.

-me- “Where are you going?”

-her- “Mom said I can go meet my homegirls at the park and meet some guy that wanted to take me out”

-me- “But we are practicing social distancing and that’s not smart.

-her- “But it’s a beautiful day outside and I’m tired of being cooped up in the house.

(mind you it’s 6:30, about to be dark and the air is filled with pollen)

So I got ask my wife.

-me- “Did you tell her she can go to the park and hang out with her friends?”

-wife- “Yeah what’s the problem? Is she on punishment or something?”

So I told my son never mind about watching The Wire. Got me a bottle of Crown Black and locked myself in my room with 2K and Madden. I have to quarantine myself from the women in my family, because they can’t sit they ass at home for 2 weeks and read a book or watch Blu-ray’s. They HAVE to be outside socializing.

Black women are gonna literally kill some of us.

@gator_king your wife basically overruled your authority? Oh boy.... that’s not a good look. Children know how to exploit when there’s dissent amongst ranking. Whatever my dad would say was final. There was no going to my mom because she would say straight “whatever your dad says is final.”

When there’s no order, that leaves room for chaos.

Along with the theme for the thread, also, that length of time, she should be comfortable in her own skin and with you. They always have to make something a goddamn show, it's the worst. You know her much better than I, but I wouldn't get married, period, having done it before, and for sure you shouldn't marry a woman with those silly type of requirements. Look at this situation as a barometer to see how she gets down. Then, imagine 40 plus years of the shyt, or getting your pockets destroyed in a divorce. Act accordingly.

Breh... you’re the man of the house. There shouldn’t be “eventually” entering the conversation. Your wife broke rank and your children should never witness that. Kids are a lot more perceptive than what we give them credit for.

Your wife needs to know that shyt doesn’t fly. Otherwise your children will exploit this and when they see they can go to your wife when they disagree with your parenting, it gets ugly.

My daughter is 18 and going to college in a different state this fall. Your describing dynamics between a father and a young adult like you’re talking about an 8 year old. The “parenting” part is coming to an end.

Like a told her last night. I’m past the point of giving orders, I’m just giving advice and suggestions . I’m not going to be micromanaging what she does and where she goes anymore. She has to be a young adult and make her own decisions. She works, got her own whip and doesn’t ask for anything. I don’t know if you’ve ever raised a college aged child, but the dynamic is tricky.
