The main reason that I wouldn't start a clothing line is because nikkas are so fickle when it comes to fashion. Gucci and Polo never advertised to us yet we have such brand loyalty towards those companies. You never seen a Polo Ad in The Source or XXL. We don't know who owns True Religion but I'm willing to bet its not a Black man. Sure a black clothing line can have a nice little run like FUBU or RW did but they're never mainstays like the white clothing lines are.
A guy I once was cool with, started his own line and I supported him heavy. I give him credit, because instead of going the traditional hood route, he slid into a untapped nitch market, but the brand is still hood certified. Its been a while, I just wanted for my dude to go the designer route, but he still winning though. Check himout and grab some gear, shyt is still clean, but most importantly black owned.

He doesnt pay those people, and trust me they push product for him. He markets the Billiards industry, and created a wave for himself.

Exploitation reversed.
I guess. Just let you know I actually checked.

LOL@Polo being done. Only on the Coli. Problem comes in when you market to an audience and not just people in general, That's the biggest flaw in black owned clothing,
You need a target market initially. It doesn't have to be a race but a demographic. Some people you don't want being seen in your shyt.

Black people love white folks and love giving them our money with no questions asked. I guarantee if a black person came out with a clothing line that was top notch quality and "fashionable" at super affordable prices, we still wouldn't buy it.

I buy the brand best for me. I'm sure others do as well.
If a black person is one of those brands, great, if not oh well.
This notion that people should support something because the owner is black is absurd to me, why?
FUBU, Rocawear, and etc owners increasing their wealth doesn't help or hurt me in the slightest, same with white, hispanic, asian, or any other brand.

It seems crazy to me trying to lauch crazy brands in this day when everyone knows high end to low end products are made in teh same factories.
Maybe some of the people should put their money into automated textile production, and seek to try to undercut the foreign malaysian, thai, chinese, and other cheap textile manufacters with production and price in the US they might have some more longevity.

But can I keep it way real, doe?

How many of y'all niccas was really into "fashion" like that?
I mean really?

I mean, yer boy is scraight West Cizzoast, mayne.
Mama used to dress me in the Lacoste and khakis. For the most part i'm still livin' like that.
Even in high school, we didn't even trip off the shirt and pants - we'd iron a damn Stafford,
and go on about our bidness...we cared more about our shoes and hats...and a herringbone (lmao).

If they could they would have already. Sad it's currently cheaper to have the work sent overseas.

You should support black companies because likely they will employ other black people. Never know if your child may need a job and better to have that opportunity for your child than us currently being at the mercy of cacs and gov.
