Why is it that some Iphone users only respond to Imessages and ignore texts?

lol i have a macbook and she responds to my imessages...but for texts its like pulling teeth.
i once was told by another chick straight up she doesnt answer texts...HOWEVER...one day i called her and found out her phone was cut off and deaded it

Imessages actually go through her laptop.. Idk if regular texts do. I actually answer shyt theough imessage as well before text. Idk, it's usually because im not in front of my phone at home but most likely on my laptop unless im watching a movie or something.

I also remember that iMessage doesn't use data or some shyt if I'm correct.

No excuse though, I answer whenever I feel like answering. I usually don't unless its important because ppl will try to call and talk for hours about nothing or about their problems

Sometimes when im away from my phone, I'll respond to iMessages on my Macbook since wifi can receive imessages.

Otherwise I respond to everything when I get it.
