why is it that the MLB is regarded as outdated when their farm system is the most advanced?

Out of all the major sports, baseball is the most difficult to predict who is actually going to be a dynamic game-changing franchise player. Its a constant race for prospects becuase so many of them don't pan out.

Also in baseball theres a wider ranger of skills that are needed. For example, in football, you need running backs. WR, linemen and a QB on offense. The skillset is rare but its narrow. On defense the skillrange is a bit wider bit its just one side of the ball

in the MLB the skill demand is wider... you need middle infielders... corner infielders.... a catcher. Corner outfielders. A true Centerfielder. Do your middle infielders have good range? Is your Centerfielder a good route taker? Does your right fielder have an arm? Do you have an everyday catcher or does he need days off? Can your 3rd baseman make that throw to first every time?

Then you have offense. Okay your CF is a great fielder but can he hit against left handed pitchers? Who has power potential? Do you have hitters who can hit for average? Do you have talented baserunners in your lineup, and do they have the plate discipline to get on base? Utility players? Pinch hitters/runners?

AND THEN you have pitchers. Do you have an innings eater in your starting rotation? If not many, then whats the bullpen like? Do you have enough lefties in your bullpen? Do you have a longman for emergency middle relief situations? You have a closer? A Setup man?

And Its so often that a lot of these guys you seek out to fill these specific roles don't amount to shyt. Naturally a lot more needs to go into finding people when it comes to filling out a baseball roster.

Sightly off topic but NL need to have the DH already :dame:

When your position players string together a couple of 2 out hits and the Pitcher comes to bat :beli: :francis: :snoop:

Still having pitchers hit in 2016 is a outdated concept, most of them suck at it and its another chance for the pitcher to get injured, seems like today pitchers are more fragile than ever :sadcam:

:umad: Never

You're a baseball player. Play baseball. That means offense and defense. Tell your pitchers stop being a hoe and pick up the bat.

How you a grown azz man lettin another man bat for you?:dame:

Should we have designated free-throw shooters in basketball for clumsy azz Centers? :sas1:

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
I've never really gotten that aspect of people getting down on baseball. I know some of it concerning football may have to do with the violent nature of the sport. but what about basketball? why arent nba teams scouting talent from a young age or going out and searching for potential in other countries?

on top of the NCAA prospects mlb scouts and signs talent just based on potential. for example danny salazar was signed to the indians in 2006! and he is only 26 right now:mindblown: now he is a starting pitcher for the indians but it took him until 2013 to finally be called up to the majors.

Salazar signed with the Indians as an international free agent in 2006. He spent two years playing rookie-level ball for the Indians, then spent 2009 through 2011 with the Lake County Captains. The Indians purchased his contract on November 18, 2011 to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. He spent 2012 with the Carolina Mudcats and Akron Aeros

and then each team has more than three levels of professional teams where they are constantly cycling through rosters of 25+. not to mention that these minor league teams legitimately bring in money, from areas that don't have a mlb team close by.

does the NFL and NBA just not want to sink the money into going this far with scouting and all the structure that would need to be put in place? is it the cap they have on player salaries? somebody chime in:jbhmm:
baseball is harder to play

imagine a basketball player shooting 30% and going to the all star game for it... imagine a qb throwing 30% and going to the pro bowl

yet in baseball, if you hit the ball 30% of the time (batting .300) you're a damn good player.. so it takes grooming a guy from high school to the age of 25, just for him to be a good role player in the bigs.. of course you have your phenoms and shyt... but it's still hard as fukk and takes more training than any other sport

you don't need 10 years and 5 leagues worth of grooming to hit a jumper... shyt you better not.. you don't need a farm system to run a 4.4 and tackle a nikka

both leagues have tried... nfl europe, d league, etc.... nobody cares, nobody watches, and MAYBE 3-4 players out the entire league will eventually make it on a roster... and that's like last on the bench of a roster... if you don't have it by high school/college... you just not going to have it

Branch Ricky started the tremd of mlb teams having farm teams. Football and basketball started out as collegiate sports. The followings were so at the college level for certain teams in these sports that the professional leagues saw how much of an advantage it was in genersting star power to take known athletes straight out of college thst they never considered doing a minor league requirement

I'm a Royals fan and last 2 seasons when they went to World Series are the only time I've really found baseball enjoyable. I don't really have team in the NBA and I'm a Chiefs fan and in those sports I can watch and enjoy the games without having a dog in the race. Baseball just really isn't that great to watch if your team sucks or not in the playoffs. And on top of all that, baseball stills has too many unwritten rules where guys get butthurt. Like hitting a homerun and flipping the bat then the response is a pitcher giving you CTE. Stupid shyt like that is outdated in my opinion

But I kind of wish the NFL had like a springtime subleague but not a whole system.

Baseball is the only sport where you can fail 70 percent of the time and be considered elite.
It's a pure give and take between batter and pitcher. Something has to give and we all forget sometimes that the pitcher in theory is the star of the show. Makes the game entertaining
