Why is it that when white girls dye their hair blonde, brown or red it's just seen as "changing her style up", but when non-white women dye their hair blonde it's "self hate"?

Why is it that when white women get colored contacts it's just seen as her "donning a new look" but when nonwhites get colored contacts it's because they "wish they were white"?

Why is it that when white girls dye their hair colors like bright red, blue, purple, green or rainbow it's seen as "embracing her style, being bold and daring, being artistic, and expressing herself", but when non-white women do the same it's "being ghetto"?

I've been meaning to make this thread for quite some time now. I just don't get this double standard.

There was a pic on tumblr and I lost it but it was like a drawing of two girls dressed exactly the same but they had dyed hair. The white girl had "so cute". The nonwhite girl had "So ghetto". if anyone has it please send it to me.

As for hair; they're already white. It's like a black women moving from dreads to Afro.

The dichotomy of race isn't the same for them, but, there's different types of "self hate."

I'll say this; I've always noticed it such a huge deal for black girls to wear short shorts, but white girls do it all the time. Summertime, I'm always seein girls (minors), even with their moms, wearin shorts too short for a black girl to get away with.

Back on topic: women are chasing a standard that happens to be a European white women. They get a pass, sometimes, cuz they aren't too far from it.

Because black people can't wait to throw shade at other black people. White people embrace and applaud their differences and eccentricities. We like to call each other "light skin" "darksin" "boogie" "ratchet". At the end of the day not one of us are just waking up and going outside as is. To an extent we all alter ourselves to fit in with society, it's not self hate its human nature.
