What a lot of people do is try to compare high end theatrical japanese animation to US tv animation and not like for like, but across all different price ranges they are equal to me.

japanese people just put more effort into it. they dont mind working long ass hours. plus art is infused into their culture. they dont view animation/cartoons as little kid entertainment. america stopped wanting to pay animators here a lot of money. they outsource a lot of shyt cuz korea/japan = cheap labor.
animating an object is difficult shyt. these fukkin studios dont wanna pay an american 125k a year to animate when they can outsource and pay some no ass getting, octopus eating, teddy bear cuddling japanese dude 30k to do the same shyt and work long hours.

American animation like most western animation tries making their characters abstract as hell
In anime for the most part the actually draw the humans in a more realistic way and setting. But to me quality wise they equal out cause it’s a lot of anime with super shytty stories and development and American cartoons tend to be way funnier

This give some examples OP cause I'd put justice league, batman TAS and the og x-Men and spiderman up against Naruto, bleach and one piece.
