When most people think of Kansas City, they automatically think Kansas City, MO.

Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO are right next door to each other.

In fact, Kansas City, KS is part of Kansas City, MO’s metro.

I always thought it was one city on the border of the two states, kinda like turkey is on the border of two continents

Google: Kansas City, Mo., was incorporated in 1853, eight years before Kansas became the 34th state. The Missouri city took its name from the Kansas Riverwhich was inspired by the Kanza People, Native Americans of the Kaw Nation — and was originally called the City of Kansas. It became Kansas City in 1889.

Gotta marvel at how these CACs will be like “leave the land and some of these names” and then proceed to decimate the Native Americans. Then they’ll remix some of the names and be “inspired” to name shyt after it.

there literally needs to be a TV documentary called “all the shyt stolen from native Americans”

There’s a Detroit, TX with like 1000 people and they all white :yeshrug:

There’s also a Vancouver BC at the top of WA and a Vancouver, Washington at the bottom of WA. If you say you’re going to Vancouver you gotta say which one :manny:

There's a Detroit in Maine which probably has a population of 100 people or less

The Spanish explorers that came thru Mexico saw the area and said "this looks just like the area we came thru" and named it New Mexico. Once Spain established the colony, they kept the name for the territory north of the Rio grande. When the Americans moved in, they took the eastern half and named it Texas. Northern half was divided for Mormon (Utah)and not Mormon (Colorado) Arizona was named by the confederates during the civil war.
