You're right. The scoring title should go to the player who tries to score the most. Just look at total shot attempts.

Alot of times in order to be eligible for these awards you have to play a certain percentage of games like say 70% to be considered. Im not sure but I imagine the NBA has that rule set up so that a guy who leading the league in scoring but only played 25 games before suffering a season ending injury would not win the scoring title

Dude it can easily happen lets say X player played for the Wizards who already played 30 games in the season when he gets traded to the Raptors who have only played 24, therefore he plays the remaining season with the Raptors and plays every game for them he could have played in. He would have played in 58 games for the Raptors (82-25) + the 30 he already played for the Wizards = 88 games played total in the season.
And I do not agree with the premise of this thread, the player with the highest ppg output who meets the 1400 pts, 70 game minimum should win it. Sheeit if you ask me they should probably figure a way to incorporate fg%
