Fictional character but Walter White exemplifies the whole "Nice guy things finish last" thing so well. Once he dropped the business suit and allowed his inner Tupac free reign things changed in his life as he got the money, power and respect he'd always craved.
Of course he went off the rails but I just say this as an example as everyone knows the real life equivalent. Maybe they weren't meth dealing teachers but it generally seems those who play by the rules get screwed whilst the demons run amok. Especially if we're speaking of generally righteous dudes trying to do what is good vs those who set out with the intent to screw over as many people as they can. Even society and its entertainment choices highlight the lack of respect for the nice guy if not flat out disdain.
