Fictional character but Walter White exemplifies the whole "Nice guy things finish last" thing so well. Once he dropped the business suit and allowed his inner Tupac free reign things changed in his life as he got the money, power and respect he'd always craved.

Of course he went off the rails but I just say this as an example as everyone knows the real life equivalent. Maybe they weren't meth dealing teachers but it generally seems those who play by the rules get screwed whilst the demons run amok. Especially if we're speaking of generally righteous dudes trying to do what is good vs those who set out with the intent to screw over as many people as they can. Even society and its entertainment choices highlight the lack of respect for the nice guy if not flat out disdain.

Don't you find that odd? Why does that seem to be the case, overwhelmingly? Also:

That fukking pic :mjlol:

Life will be hard for everyone, id say on average, even moreso for "bad" people. I think intelligence probably had bigger impact on your success.

"Bad" people on average are more likely to go to jail, or be 6 feet under. I'd rather be "good" and live a simple life, maybe not have a lot of wealth and shyt, but my life is simple.

100. Fully agree with this but its not the intent of the topic. Another view is that the Flanders type are often full of repression and trying to live up to expectations and ideals that were set for them. The other kind make their own rules and get theirs the fast way, ski mask way.
I guess what I am trying to say is that a truly good people I have met have qualities that allow them see the world in a different light so they wouldn't see their life as hard. What you would perceive as hard, they would perceive as a challenge that was meant for them to overcome because the man above knows they are capable of doing so. Maybe that explains what I was saying better. Also, I completely ignored the Breaking Bad reference. Why would you say Walter White was a good/nice guy?

Was Walter White a "nice guy" if he always craved money, power and respect and let his inner Tupac have free reign to get it?

This is me. I've been fukked over by the system like a MF for just not paying tickets when I didn't have enough money to pay them. I've lost jobs, cars, cribs all because of a fukking driving while License suspended. I've never got into a car accident, never even been close to one. Not a single moving violation either, all no insurance, bad tags, driving on suspended for not paying those tickets. I also don't have a criminal record.

I was recently put on probation for letting a chick drive my car to the store, she got flicked, her shyt was suspended too. I get charged also :mjlol:. Letting an unlicensed person drive, no criminal record, no moving violations for either of us, this pink bytch ass judge put me on probation. I never reported. So, as soon as I get flicked, I'm gonna lose everything again cause dude will definitely give me 90+ days. Keep in mind, THIS HAS ALREADY HAPPENED TO ME ONCE, WAS SENTENCED TO 120 DAYS, WHICH WAS LATER DISMISSED CAUSE THE JUDGE MADE A "MISTAKE" BY NOT LETTING ME TALK.

Life is no harder or easier for good or bad people. Life is harder for people who make poor decisions and easier for those who make good decisions. You can be a good person and make poor decisions, you can be a bad person and make good decisions. It is the consequences of your decisions that can make your life harder than it needs to me. Just like the dint of birth can have an effect on how hard or easy your life is, no matter if you are good our bad.

We don't live in society that values morals basically. Morals and treating people right don't directly correlate to success in this reality.

I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, because everyone knows it's the "right" thing, but you will not get financial security, physical safety or health from it.

This topic can get quite depressing honestly lol

The whole point of the Breaking Bad show is that Walt wasn't actually a "good" person. Heisenberg was the "real" him. He was always petty, bitter and angry he just pushed it down and away until he found out he was dying.

The whole idea behind doing shadow work and Jungian psychology/healing is you supposed to face that part of yourself, he part that you push down and don't want to show anyone and accept it in order to become whole/healthy. The gist being if you don't, thats how you end up in a Breaking Bad type situation (blowing up your life because for w/e reason you let the other side of yourself out to play finally).

If you honestly listen to shytty people who keep saying this as well, note that many times it's them trying to convince you to drop to their level.

This is a reasonable take, backed by science:

Again, the key is to good person and not be a pushover.
Lead with being a good person, then respond with the same energy they're giving.

Then if they're bringing you down, stop interaction, ditch them and go back to being a good person and find a win-win interaction.

Key thing a U.S spy brought up: America despite what people may believe always seeks a win-win solution when it comes to warfare. If that option hits their desk, that's the option they'll go with. That's America, the top dog when it comes to war. They actually follow the Prisoner's Dilemma pattern to a T. Spies are trained themselves to always go for the win-win and play positive-sum games.

"The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen R. Covey The Habit #4 is literally "Think Win-Win".

Good point brought up - even in relationships: If a woman is attracted more the jerk than the nice guy, then I think the nice guy is finishing first by avoiding that dysfunctional relationship altogether.

The a$$hole may get an 8 right now, but in a few years she'll be a 4 and have all their money :heh:

Additionally, in computer science there's what's known as greedy algorithms - at every decision the algorithm picks the direction with the highest/most selfish value.

As you can see here, starting at the top and picking the highest value all the time may actually lead to a lower overall number, which is probably most often the case than not to be honest:

Unless you have insane foresight, you're probably picking that wrong which 99% of the people probably will.

Reminds me of Musashi's "Seize victory no matter what" philosophy

Philosophy and learning DSA is transforming how I think about life daily. To do more effective things
