I dont think its that..he just is in an era where the music cant speak for itself anymore...

nikkas want the music and everything else..which puts a nikka like banks in a bad position...

You really gotta be on 24 hour alerts with fans..from the instagrams etc...

Everyone not built for it
Not only is everyone not built for it but I like that some people aren't out there 24/7. It's why producers like Alchemist and Madlib have an appeal to people. It's why rappers like MF DOOM could drop an album tomorrow and people would care, despite the fact that all the people I just named either are barely active on social media, or not at all.

It's cool when some people are still a mystery and they aren't posting stuff online everyday. That's the balancing act that a lot of these new heads and old heads miss. A lot of the old heads just want the music to speak for itself and it doesn't work. A lot of the newer generation has the social media/branding aspect covered and it also doesn't work.

Gotta have a balance. Banks could definitely stand to interact a little more and put a little more effort out there. But like you said I understand why he doesn't and I respect it on some level.

True.

But to be honest it's refreshing that a guy like banks doesn't care about fame and you can tell he really loves hip hop genuinely as an art form. You don't see that or get that feelings from most these rappers right now.

I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't leave his house a lot of the time and just writes raps in his room.

I miss that era, when dude just wanted to rap.

thats the thing in these times...

if the music is hot, then everything else dont matter..

i've seeen plenty of nikkas hype up shytty projects that you gotta pay 4:manny:

Honestly. I'd prefer more rappers like Banks and less Interview and social media fame whores.

Give me an artist who's genuine, not ever in the spotlight and let's the music talk > all these other clowns who rely on everything BUT

As a fan I really don't care if he doesn't give us music videos, interviews all the time etc as long as he drops music cause he always delivers WHEN he does.

Idk maybe i feel different about it cause I'm into hardcore/punk as well heavily and bands hardly ever do interviews unless they're big or music videos. So it doesn't bother me at all and I don't understand why it's an issue

Just let the dude rap and Make music. Not everyone cares about all that extra shyt. A lot of People use making music as therapy and Banks has said in his raps before he does.

comparing the MF Doom audience to the Banks audience is apples and oranges..

there are exceptions to the rule, but the average banks fan(the majority) wants 24/7 instagram posts and all other kinds of shyt..there is no balance with them that actually involves music

i dont even think juelz santana records anymore:francis:, but everything he does besides that is what's keeping him relevant to the point where what we know him for is an afterthought..

I do agree that he needs a balance to please these new era of fans, but if his bread is stacked to the point where he can play the game the way he does now, then more power to him

These rappers cant even take a break anymore...And i think thats why nikkas are having meltdowns..

like you could fall back for a year or 2 and get your mind right..

these days, you might not have a career anymore...

its hurt the quality of music as well as nikkas mindstates

Cuz hes good looking (no homo)

Good looking guys like us develop these type of personalities cuz people always hate on us cuz how much attention we naturally get.

So we fall back to minimize jealousy, and let the girls come to us

It's a combination of fans and rappers. You have kids who get pissed when an artist takes longer than a year on an album. People have definitely made threads on here a year after an artist has Dropped like "is __ falling off? We haven't heard nothing in a year!" And then you have dudes who make easy digestible strip club anthems flood the game with music wether it be mixtapes and albums and features so it makes it hard on dudes who don't do that. Fans expect Lyrical cats who actually write all there up music, come up with there own flows, hooks and lyrics who tour and shyt to turn out music at the rate of Drake who gets help and gets song concepts written

Some rappers have smarten up and stopped trying to satisfy the internet soldiers and the social media addicts.

Getting love from them puts zero dollars in your pocket and it kills the love you getting from your true fans.

Like when Ar-Ab got a little shot out from Drake, people wanted Ar-Ab to go all extra, but dude pretty much stayed quiet cause he knows Drake don't care about anyone but Drake.

I think if rappers stopped getting used and sucked dry by record labels, fickle fans, and other rappers they will have an easier time keeping their movement going.

nikka, I'm talking about in the music itself. A lot of rappers are lowkey, but why is this nikka lowkey in his music? Snoop, for instance, is one of the most laid back rappers but I've never felt that he lacked enthusiasm in his music.

That's because Snoop is actually talented. and even when laidback, is fiercely energetic.

However, Banks is still. Like a still :trash: can on the sidewalk. Just there.

At some point, y'all will figure out that charisma is a "got it or don't" affair. It doesn't have anything to do with being 'loud' or not. It's about energy/enthusiasm. Most of these loud n*ggas you swear got charisma have no charisma and, like Banks, are still :trash: on the street. Put Kendrick and Cole in that box too.

And those same fans bootleg every album in sight. If I preview a retail album and I like it, I always buy it...I bought the Chinx and Joe Budden albums.
