I read a pretty recent article where Iwata explained that Nintendo does some types of games really well but other types of games not so well which is why they need third parties who are good at those types of games. He also said that Nintendo development teams are already stretched thin which is why Nintendo primarily focuses their own efforts on getting those core franchises out that people want from Nintendo. This is also why Nintendo have been expanding their development team recently.

I think Iwata has actually been on point with a lot of what he has been saying recently and if Wii U had real third party support and not just ports of old games it would actuàlly be a very appealing console. But I can't blame third parties for not supporting it considering the user base is so small. Truthfully the problem with Nintendo is also the reason they sold so well, a lot if gamers are happy to pick up a Nintendo console as a secondary console so they can play those Nintendo exclusives. While this means Nintendo consoles and first party tiules sell we'll it also means third parties don't sell as well. And it's not that Nintendo gamers don't buy those third party miltiplatformer games, they just buy them for the other console they own.

they need to change the perception of their brand to be more inclusive to today's trends in gaming. go out and get new development studios to do more mature games and draw in a more mature audience so third party developers will say "hey their audience is expanding" and make games for them.

every console since the Nintendo 64 has suffered from the same third parties don't really wanna touch it issue. the fact of the matter is the core Nintendo crowd aren't enough to demand third party attention.

there's people like me who i buy Nintendo systems only to play Nintendo games and that's about it. they aren't going to be as successful if the only people who buy their consoles are gamers picking it up as a second or third system just to play Nintendo games.

sure the Wii's motion control gimmick brought it some success but outside a very small number of games like Just Dance the third party success on the console was a barren wasteland.

people like me are never gonna buy a Call of Duty game on a Nintendo platform because its not the only console we own and its no serious gamer's first choice to play a game like that on. i don't even know why Ubisoft is bothering with Watchdogs cause the Wii U is gonna be the last platform anybody is buying that on.

See that's exactly what I'm saying, you admit yourself that you buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games and will never buy COD on a Nintendo console. That's why they got MH, Beyonetta 2 and Xenoblade sequel, it seems they are trying to expand their exclusives which is exactly what you said they should do. I mean I think we can agree that at this point miltiplatformer titles won't really help Nintendo, they do need adult oriented exclusives. But unfortunately devs are shifting more and more away from exclusives which isn't a bad thing for PS or Xbox but really hits Nintendo hard. It's an uphill battle for Nintendo but I think Iwata has the right idea

To add along with that, some nintendo games could have easily been geared towards adults, zelda for example has taken a very child like direction and they could easily take a more adult direction, make a dark souls like combat system, harder, more creative puzzles, and a darker, deeper story. And get some fukking voice acting for christ sake, if other developers can do it, nintendo can too

I agree with you. Imagine if Metroid Prime had a deeper story. Samus was developed as a character. Intense Multiplayer to rival other space shooters. Metroid and Zelda seem wasted to me on Nintendo's console.

Dealing with nintendo is like watching your homeboy you grew up with continuously fukk his life up. You keep hoping he'll get it together and make you proud to say that's your boy but he never does.

It hits me hard every time breh :(

what i'm saying is they need to diversify their brand perception to the point where a gamer would buy a Nintendo console and be comfortable only having that.

if all you had was a 360 or a PS3 you'd be cool last generation. if all you had was just a Wii you probably aren't into gaming that much.

Nintendo can't rely on third party companies to bolster their brand. they're gonna have to get the ball rolling on that avalanche themselves. they're gonna have to start making high quality games that the more mature crowd is drawn to and lay the ground work for a system that a gamer would be ok with having as their only system.

part of the reason the Xbox 360 managed to pull a game like Final Fantasy XIII was because it is part of a brand that can't be ignored. its commanded enough market share to demand Square not ignore it. there are plenty of people that don't have an PS3 but do have a 360.

if you're gonna play Grand Theft Auto you probably don't care if its on the Wii U or not because you'll be getting it elsewhere. if Rockstar knows this why bother? all the people that are gonna buy their game are gonna buy it regardless of it being on the Wii U. putting it on there ain't gonna impact sales enough to matter.

its past time for Nintendo to make a cinematic Zelda where Link has a voice actor and dialog and everyone else has voice acting. they're still making that series as if the advent of voice acting and more polished dialog doesn't exist in gaming. it would be like Square making Final Fantasy XV with no voice acting and minimal cinematics.

If Nintendo crashes, the industry will crash due to insane gaming development costs. The average Ps4 and XB1 game will cost upwards of $300 million. Such absorbent prices is not stable for third party companies.
