He's not overrated USC is
You ain't learn about USC QBs in cold weather clmates yet huh?LOL. Darnold is fukkin cold IMO. Would love to have him in Cincy
I never understood the argument "Players from school X who play position Y never pan out, therefore this one won't either" it's dumb af. Every player is his own man and will determine his own success. The only time this argument makes any sense is if there is a systematic reason why the player shouldn't be a good pro prospect. An example would be QBs who can barely complete a pass but have success in college because the offense is predicated on their running ability. But in the case of USC QBs? Sam Darnold has NOTHING to do with Sanchez, Leinart, Cassel, Barkley, etc. Palmer played for the same coach as those guys and he had a nice career. And Darnold doesn't even play for the same coach as any of those guys, and has a different skill set. I really, really hate this "logic"
Yea and I mean the success of Palmer (once a top 3 qb) dispels this mythI never understood the argument "Players from school X who play position Y never pan out, therefore this one won't either" it's dumb af. please. Let's look back at the amazing Sanchez, Barkley, Booty, Leinart, Palmer USC tradition. They all were drafted off the strength of Pete.
If you really want to get into it Purdue has a much better NFL legacy
They've produced more championship Qb'sNegged for talking out your ass....

Well how about the fact that no Big 12 QBs ever pan out in the leagueI never understood the argument "Players from school X who play position Y never pan out, therefore this one won't either" it's dumb af. To be fair he was getting that hype til the rape shyt happenedyeah but jameis was never hyped up the way darnold is being hyped right now.
But is he better than Hoyer?? Say next year in the draft he's still on the board at their pick.
Would it be smart to draft him or pay Cousins?
Martha
I disagree. Ex. Syracuse basketball players and the NBA. You should know that firsthand.
I'll explain it in USC's case. He plays in an environment that is tailor made for college success, but being at USC makes QB's feel like that is as good as it will get for the rest of their lives. They're all Cali kids who get coddled and then once they leave, life hits them real quick, especially when the first sign of adversity pops up, adversity they never really feel at USC. That's why I'm very skeptical of how these QB's turn out when they leave that comfort zone at USC. It's very unique to other places because other schools breed you to be good pros. At USC, they treat you like you're there already.
Darnold in USC /Cali = beast. Darnold in NY wouldn't know what hit him

Well I think for the most part, it's a numbers game. There just aren't very many QBs that can pan out in the league at all to begin with. I mean at any given point, there are maybe 10-15 QBs in the entire league that you would want to build a team around. Then when you look, a lot of them are from random ass schools that don't even have a prestigious football tradition (Brees - Purdue, Rodgers - Cal, Roethlisberger - Miami Ohio, Rivers - NC St, Dak - Miss St, Alex Smith - Utah, Carr - Fresno, Ryan - BC, etc) so you're not really left with a lot of places for guys from traditional football powerhouses. Then you start to realize that success of QBs has a lot more to do with the individual's skill set and mental mastery of the game, combined with the situation/system he's in and how well they fit together, and a lot less to do with what school they came from. Which is kinda the point I was driving at to begin with.Well how about the fact that no Big 12 QBs ever pan out in the league

As for the Big 12 specifically, I dunno. There's not a lot of defense played in that conference. Bradford, Tannehill, RGIII have all had their moments, and combined they've started a lot of games. So I mean, you can say those guys "panned out" to some degree at some points in their careers, but if your standard is greatness as a QB, then really no school or conference has a "consistent" track record. It's all about the player and his fit to the team he goes to
I watched him at the end of last year and thought he looked legit. He definitely deserves the hype in my opinion. If he isn't a top 3 college QB right now then who is? If I had to draft it'd be between him and Baker Mayfield. As a Redskins fan RG3 has tainted Lamar Jackson for me.
Clemson's new QB is looking like THAT DUDE but he's in his first year starting so the writing is still on the wall until the end of the season.
