because the only adults in the system of white supremacy are White men and White women, everyone else are children.

This is VERY VERY true and real = TRILL.

But yeah, we've discussed this at length on the coli. In this system, in this society...those with power are seen as men and women...in other words, they are seen with respect. There's an underlying current with this that resonates within various parts of this society. In the corporate world to other avenues. When it comes to who runs businesses, who calls the shots, who hires people...most of the people doing this are white, and if they aren't white, they more likely than not are not black. So when you can provide financially, or just provide...period...people will look at that person with respect because they have power. A poor black man living from paycheck to paycheck at the age of 32 is not going to be seen in the same regard as a young 24 year old white man that just inherited a upper management position at his dad's firm as the result of nepotism and is financially well off...even if that 24 year old is still very immature in many aspects of life and eventually runs his dad's firm into the ground.

What I'm implying is that there something larger at play with this line of thinking.

it's simple tell people what they can and can't call you.

Some people at work called me bro. I said call me by my name And they did
Underrated truth. Demand what you want and you'll get it if you can back it up.

Yes.
Yes.
and Yes.

But when it comes time to get the job done and be serious, I rise to the occasion 100%. I don't see how me doing any of the above or how doing non-adult things disqualifies me as an adult when I've been one for the past 12 years.

True...but this doesn't answer the question really posed in the thread title. This is indicative of a larger issue...like many things in life are.

I have no problem with being called "bro" or any derivative of that term...BTW.

The question is...why is the black man seen as a boy or kid?

I blame horrible representation of brothers in the media along with the second childhood/Peter Pan/Baby Boy mentality that too many brothers have.

People are bombarded by the media that black men have high HS drop out rates, are the secondary breadwinner if employed, unemployable, only care about a career in sports and rapping and are not supporting the kids we have. When a brother doesn't fit the stereotype it can be quite shocking I imagine for people who don't interact with brothers and the only exposure to black life is from TV and the media.

My muthafukkin self
I may look young as fukk but no one talks down on like I'm a kid because I don't let them. If they even try that shyt, I dead that shyt right then and there. Like my wife's family kept doing that shyt to me, at first, i was just keeping it cordial cause of my wife and letting it go, then they kept going so i just said fukk it and started going back at them and now they don't even bother with that talk and leave me alone.

:win:

As far as the whole boy or kid talk, I think a lot of it stems just from white people wanting to assert their "power".

there was a study that saw that whites and other saw black children as much older than they actually were.
