i know what i am. i am a black man. i do not call myself mixed, nor shall i ever. i may have a white mother, but reality says i am a black man living in a white world that treats me as such. i'm not looking for your admiration. i only ask that you respect how i choose to regard my racial persona in this world.
I get what you're saying, and I resepct that....but you don't get what I'm saying.
For example, you're defining yourself by the world's definition, more importantly, you're seeing/accepting yourself the way the world sees you.
If I as a black man, accepted what the world told me about being black, I'd dress a certain way, talk a certain way, like & dislike certain things all b/c I am "black" and that's what the world tells me I am.
If I like to sing rock music, that's not something the world identifies with black people(even tho black ppl pioneered rock music).....thus alot of us don't do what we truly want to do or be our real selves. Follow me?
You're black in the eyes of the most humans, but the reality is, you're not "black"....nobody is. Just nobody is actually "white". Only thing black on you really is ur hair. Nobody skin is actually white. You just are what you are. It's no different than animals. You dont refer to your dog as a black dog or a white dog......it's just a dog. Just as you are a human.
So accept your role in society, but remember it's just a label and it's not real.
