Why do installations take so fukking long on the Xbox One?

Microsoft investigates.

It has long been known that installation times for games on the shytty Xbox One sometimes takes significantly longer than on the competing console, the superior PlayStation 4.

Last year the videogame blog Kotaku tested the difference between the two systems. Games like Need for Speed Rivals took nine minutes and 25 seconds on the slow ass Xbox One while only 32 seconds on the superior PlayStation 4.

Worse still for FIFA 14, which took 16 minutes and 26 seconds to install on my grandmas Xbox One compared to only 35 seconds on the GodStation 4.

Certainly, there are variables like downloadable updates and the fact that sometimes you can start the game and mess around in menus while it installs.

Knows about the difference.

This is something Microsoft has also noticed, and they are now investigating the cause. It was revealed by Microsoft’s Xbox General Phil Spencer in a podcast with IGN.

He points out, however, that some titles on shytBox One were affected by the fact that they cut out the requirement that the console always must be online.

Titles such as Forza Motorsport 5 and Ryse: Son of Rome was according to Spencer developed for the Dumbasses who own the Xbox One that would always be online. This was from when Microsoft’s genius vision was that the Xbox One should always be online, as a requirement.

After much criticism from players, Microsoft has changed a number of parts of Xbox One before the launch, including the requirement to be online all the time.

– The change made that one must accept that the consoles can be offline meant that the flow of the installation code is not as flawless as it could be, says Spencer.

Spencer further reveals that he has got his people to compare installation times on the two consoles and have found that some games are faster than the PS4, but others are “significantly worse.”

Wants to reduce the time.

He further insinuates that it probably is not the console itself that is the problem and mentions that the blu-ray drive and hard drive basically share similar specifications.

They are now going to find out how they can reduce installation times.

– I want market leading installation times so that people can start playing as soon as possible. It is high on the priority list.

He admits that they are not sure what the cause of the problem is, but he agrees that it should install faster.

This is not the first time Spencer has admitted that the installation time is sluggish – in January he put out a message on the microblogging site Twitter in which he said that the installation time should be reduced.

anyway doesn't the ps4 have shyt to let you start playing before it's fully installed? it would need some magic to actually copy ~50gb of data from a bluray to the hdd in 32 seconds

What does a game system need to do to multitask I'm just trying to play games and maybe look at Netflix.
