Well this discussion started about lurkers then turned into talking about trolls
Fair enough
Trolls are on every forum and I've said it before thecoli is by the far the most lenient forum ive been on PERIOD. I mean even a thread a like this on some forums would get you banned. Abusing any type of message, rep or report system (yea am lookin at at mrken) gets you automatically banned, shoot i got banned from the xbox forurms for making a negative comment about a game.
There's no arguments there. Coli is definitely on the more liberal side of the game.
Bans are used for extreme situations and they work, 99% of ppl when ban are not heard from again, problem is some of you guys want immediate bans on ppl you disagree with . Racist and other abusers of the boards policy are usually banned fairly quickly I've seen it happen and do it might self when the situation allows
That's not necessarily the case for me, I know others would have people permed on sight but it's really a case by case basis. My qualms aren't really with bans, but restrictions according to this rep system we have.
As far as the process being more thorough I still havens seen a suggestion that would work in the long run, what stops someone from creating a fake FB profile and then using that to get on here and the trolling? Or from using legit throwaway email address and then trolling? and lastly how is that process fair to someone who signs up new vs someone who has been here for two years already?
There's no 'throwaway' emails associated with your ISP or college, work, etc. emails. Those who are here AFTER the process change are grandfathered in.
Why -2000? why not -1000 or 0 or -10,000? What if there is a thread about a cop killing a black man and someone comes in there and agrees with what the cop did for watever reason and gets automatically negged trained? and this the persons like 10th post only the site in like a week, so they been here for a week and already lose there thread making abilities? As long as there is rep system there is going to be a way to abuse it and thats not fair.
The limit is on y'all. High level negative rep is a feat, let's not act like that happens over night. But to entertain your scenario, Someone joins the Coli and makes a comment that gets hit right away with a neg train. OK, considering that no one positively reps that person, they would need to be hit 200 accounts to lose thread making privileges or 1,000 accounts to hit -10000. King Karim sits at little over -8,000 and admin open restrictions on negs that time. THAT was abuse and it still didn't hit your 10,000. My point is 1. He'd have to say some absurd shyt to get -2,000 in their first week and with that, he only loses thread making rights. No bans. Plus there's a chance of gaining that right back.
So is your argument it'll be abused either way so why change it? because that slippery slope fallacy doesn't work. Post the question to the forum "should heavy red members get thread restrictions" and see if people will have objections to that.
Look there is a deeper motive to what some of yall want here stop kidding yourselves with this whole sites best interest, stopping lukers and trolls

yall scared of some boogie white man
I feel like this doesn't really pertain to me.
if it does, please elaborate.
