Great singer voice wise and from a technical standpoint. Very strong & masculine voice with plenty of emotion. Great with the runs and ad-libs, which is key for any soul singer.

Why does he never get mentioned? Was it him doing the acting thing that made people forget that he's an actual talented singer?

He don't really have any memorable songs that people can remember and be like "yeah he did go in on that one song:ehh:"
Good point:ehh:

He doesn't really have a "signature" song per se. Was he REALLY ever that big musically? I guess most people know him more from Baby Boy and Fast & Furious

Not true. He has few memorable hits on his first & 3rd album.

@stomachlines

Whenever people bring up great singers more often than not they can instantly recall a song that they automatically remember.

If I brought up someone like a dangelo I can instantly remember that brown sugar track.

With tyrese the average music listener couldn't automatically recall a tyrese song. He don't have a signature song so that makes it even harder for him to get mentioned.

I guess I was talking moreso "crossover" hits like Usher and Chris Brown has, but he's not that type of singer to make music like that. He has more "soul" than those 2 imo.

A song like

has zero crossover appeal and its one of his best. Too much soul to appeal to "others":mjpls:

I think I have 4 Tyrese cd's, all of them have some good tracks, @satam55 gotta agree those are definitely his standout ones. "Shame" was fire, had me thinking he was gonna bring it on that album, it was ok. Worst thing he did was attempt rapping with his alter-ego Black Tye, absolutely horrible.
