Why is uncharted so loved ?

I never been a fan for the game and dropped the first one almost halfway in. Decided to play the 4th one and it's ok, but not worthy of this universal acclaim.

It's just platforming and shooting. A lot more platforming than shooting. The enemies offer no variety. It's the same regular goons and then one type that can't be melee'd right away and a sniper. You just pick up guns on the go with no real difference. There appears to be no discernible difference in reload time, recoil, and etc or stats to show you improvement in guns. There is no upgrade or customization during the campaign to make you change your experience and feel you improved things as you go. There is no point to exploring the granted beautiful world created because all you get is little treasures that just equate to bonus currency for features after you complete the game. You might run into a gold gun if you stray off the main path but that isn't worth it. This game just appears to be very very shallow.

Honestly I enjoyed the last gen tomb raider that came out way better. Same kinda game but it did all the things uncharted lacked. I look forward to the recent one when it gets on PS4.

Different types of games but there's credibility to your criticisms. If you liked tomb raider better I can see that. I personally liked them both for different reasons. I give the edge to uncharted because I enjoyed the story more. If it wasn't for that I would give the edge to tomb raider.

Won't suit everyone 100%. But it's one of those series that you got to play from game 1 to really understand the aspect of what they're trying to do and tell. Otherwise you'll be like "why the fukk am I going after this" and "why the hell does this seem so important"

I prefer TR too, a lot of smoke and mirrors with the UC series. It's really good no doubt but overrated.

Because of the adventure, interplay between the characters, charm, hokey dialogue, grand scale, set pieces.

It's more than just a slice of gameplay but I see where you're coming from.

not every goddamn game needs RPG elements. And definitely not some fake RPG upgrades.

I didn't need to upgrade sh1t to beat 2013 TR. I played with every thing default and kept it moving.

All that upgrade point stuff feel out of place imo in a game like TR or UC

Mainly because of Uncharted 2. That game was amazing at the time.

Narrative and Storyline, Graphics, Control. As a game, it plays relatively average. I've never been wowed by the game ever in that regard. However, as a leading character, Nathan Drake is piff and Naughty Dog is the best studio in the world. They pull out all of the stops for Uncharted games and since I've been there from the beginning and played all four, I can safely say that this series as a whole is up there in the pantheon of greats. I buy a lot of games, I don't finish a lot of games. However, I finish Uncharted games.

The gameplay itself is alright though. Puzzles aren't too hard and the gunplay ranges from tolerable to insufferable depending on what game/difficulty level you're playing

Everyone has different reasons, but I'm the same. None of the games were memorable for me, especially the fourth one, considering how much acclaim it received. Still, in regards to the most recent installment, while the visuals are the main talking point, it has probably the best audio quality as far as video games go, if one has the setup for it.
