Some of the best games ever. Theyre a revolutionary dev...

Plus they improved pc gaming 100 fold with steam. I have my issues with the service but overall the platform is way better with it there
so how did they get the money to developsteam i wanna see a documentary...cause i know half life is not on the radar of Super mario in terms of sales and popularity

They gave away 3 - 4 free games when you had a nvidia graphics card. Then you had 3 -4 games on steam, and from there shyt grew....

That was years ago...

I don't even think of Valve as a legendary game developer. I just think of them revolutionary when it comes to Steam.

L4D2, amazing and so is Portal 2 but their accomplishment with Steam just outshines all of their game history.

after halflife, and counter-strike, STEAM was their bread and butter. Counter-strike's success was integral to everything because then you had other people use their halflife engine to make other successful mods, such as Team Fortress Classic, which they bought and later turned into a cash cow that is Team Fortress 2. Since people were making successful mods they got the idea of making the source engine and licensing it out to diff companies to make their games with. Steam was released around the time that the beta for the first counter-strike expansion and they built their success through the STEAM marketplace.

Something that pisses me off is companies like EA who used to release developer kits for battlefield no longer do that. You can't even imagine the amazing mods we're missing out on for Battlefield 3/4. They used to have star wars battlefield mods for BF2, and other interesting mods as well.

Gaming wise there's companies that are better even tho half life series is obviously legendary......Steam however pretty much single handedly took PC gaming to the next level and some might say even saved it. I know I didn't buy any PC games for years but now my steam library is like 30 games deep. They probably made billions off steam alone

Half Life was a great game, especially for its time. But not only that, but the offspring of it through mods Counter Strike and Team Fortress. At the time there wasn't much variation from (T)DM and CTF. Portal was also great. Also if you haven't played HL2 get it. dat anti gravity gun :banderas:
