Some Walmart's down here where I live hire police, especially at night, but are too backwards to know where to place them. They should never place cops at the entrance or exit of a grocery store, where you have to almost look them right in the face when coming or leaving. You don't want this every time you shop for food, and they really don't wanna look at our faces, especially if you're a Black man, unless they like messing with you. When I worked as a Wells Fargo security guard at Giants when I lived in the DMV, they had enough sense not to have us standing at the entrance and exits, making customers feel like they were checking in a police station, or checking in for work. Anyway, down here they're more likely to have cops at a Black Walmart, or a Walmart location where hood and trash mostly go, than they would a mostly White location. They also have cops at the Sams club, the Black location.
Now I will say, the Walmart that have cops didn't always place them all in our faces, but you never knew when they were gonna start that up again. Since the pandemic, this has been less of an issue.
