Because we don't control out own media. Someone who knows and understands how the media works needs to create a 24 hour black media station.
The problem is the people who feel the need to do something about it, will sit back and do nothing.
if you created a 24 hour black media station. and its not filled with rachet behaviour from 5 to 11pm at night. the station wont last long.
if by some weird way we got all the black folks to pitch in a few pennies like a black tax. to keep the TV station on the air regardless of advertising dollars. most of us wouldnt watch it because it would be a black PBS. most people dont watch PBS. So you already know most black folks aint watching a black PBS. it would be more preaching to the choir. talking to those already in the know.
sure it may reach a couple of kids. that would be nice. but for the current gen. not going to reach em for the most part.
What is stopping creation in the YouTube era? Somehow YouTube got my popular and is making people famous. YouTube is cheaper than a cable network...once some money comes in then you can see about tv.
But a black network makes no deferences because at the end of the day it's about convincing white folks to see ya view & if they don't watch the black network you only preaching to a choir.

Personally I do think black people would watch a black news network if it's done right. We just need good on air personalities who'll spit some real shyt and not be afraid of the repercussions.
We have two choices. Continue to beg white people to report us in a correct light, or take matters into our own hands and make something for ourselves.
Regardless of what the medium is, someone needs to do it. My whole point is everyone keeps sitting back and talking about what needs to be done.
We need a black news station
We need black leaders
We need black businesses
We need blacks to go back to the hood
But no one wants to stand up and take a leadership role in anything. No one wants to raise their hand and say fukk it, I think I can make a dope black media empire. Half of our problems is our inappropriate behavior when it comes to dealing with white supremacy. We want to take the easiest route possible instead of fighting white supremacy head on. Which is why twitter can be a gift and a curse.
As I've said numerous times I have plan to help my community that I'm working on. Tried to do it through the UNIA and NOI and that didn't work. Now I'm confident the 100 Black Men organization will help me realize my vision.
I'm also gonna start seeing if i can find some folk to begin discussing how to start a militia to protect us from the police and whites in general. That's a commitment that I'm making to my people.
Nothing we do will convince whites of anything, so we need to stop bringing that up. The news stations should be by blacks, for blacks. You think Fox News gives 2 fukks about how many black viewers they have?

Obama's presidency if anything has exposed the white supremacist nature of America and the Western World and white people can't stand it.
It took a black/bi-racial man, his black wife, and his proud black family to point the mirror in America's face...and they don't like the reflection.

Outside of commericla sforced upon you, you can literally control 95% of the media you consume. But its up to the individual to seize that control.

The sad thing is...while I agree...I feel this is the reason why they (the baby boomers running this country..the good ole' boys club) is/are doing whatever they can to f*ck up the livelihood of people of color...especially with all of these shootings. On some...If I can't have this country (woman) NO ONE CAN.
I was thinking about it...the sad reality as a black person in this country is that you could be killed simply for living your life as is...while the media drags you down and destroys your reputation in death.
I could get murked by racist NYPD pigs tonight...and they'll say I was a "thug" who deserved it and try to find any incriminating photos of me to substantiate that point.
