Why isn't Daz ever mentioned in the same breath as DJ Quik?

DJ Quik is one of those producers whose fanbases ride hard for them I've noticed. I've recently started listening to his catalogue and he's dope. Not Alchemist or Dr. Dre dope IMO...but very dope. Nonetheless, I always hear him mentioned as the GOAT West Coast producer. I'm not saying those who say that are wrong. To me Daz is on the same level as Quik but he's never mentioned. Why is that? :jbhmmm: Revenge Retaliation & Get Back was a banger. Dogg Food was fire. And he has a track record of making more hits too.

Some of my fave underrated Daz beats

Streetz iz a motha is probably the best use of Ike's Mood by the way. I dare somebody to argue :manny:

Why isn't Daz held in high regard as someother producers?

If his shyt stayed on the same level as his deathrow stuff he would be, but he fell off hard once he left. The shyt he put out after "R.A.W." has been subpar for the most part. He's gotta work with a dope co-producer to put out good shyt. Quik uses co-producers as well but can do just fine on his own.

Pretty much. He will always have his place in the DPG/Snoop Dogg hierarchy of westcoast hip hop and that classic Deathrow era but after that it was really hit or miss.

If you want a simple answer....Quik has made classic music and albums on his own. Daz has not. Daz always comes as part of a package or tied with someone else. Whether its a DPG album or producing with say Fredwreck on Kurupt's solo.

Daz is too inconsistent. Too many lapses in quality in between his best works while Quik has produced consistently dope, notable music since '91.

When he's focused Daz is awesome but I can't put him in the discussion with Quik, Battlecat, or Dre when talkin GOAT Westcoast producers. He's in tier 2 with LT Hutton, Warren G, Rick Rock, etc.
