Why isn't "it too much too soon" for Balor?

Which says a lot considering the same fanbase that prioritizes work in the ring would prefer someone as utterly average as Dean over someone who has participated in some of the best matches of the past few years.
I dont think fans saw it as Roman being in some of the best matches. Thats mostly internet conjecture.

but the point is he was over

people are trying to claim he was never over not even when he was part of the shield

and thats debatable on who was chosen between him and ambrose after rollins cause rollins was clearly the standout in the group

Most in here say the Shield was over as a collective. I say the Shield was over as a collective and broke up too soon. What the problem is that people say Roman was over at a higher level than Rollins & Ambrose which is patently false. I posted 4 videos which shows Roman not getting any special reaction.

@Jmare007 what did you think of Balor's run in Japan?

There's two ways to look at it. Wrestling wise he never reached elite level, even for a Junior Heavyweight. He's always been a good wrestler but he didn't really stand out as a worker. He was fine, had entertaining matches and he was over, but he was far from being a top worker in the world.

But beyond my personal taste in how he wrestles, his run in Japan can only be described as a big success. He was groomed to be the top Junior in New Japan and was able to be the Ace of the division and find this cool gimmick were he paints himself and has a dope entrance before big matches. He was very protected but he made the most out of it (others failed in that regard, like Wataru Inoue :scust:) even to the point of running with the idea of the Bullet Club and not look out of place when booked against heavyweights. He went from a young promise as a Junior, to a legit, established top gaijin for New Japan that was recognized world wide.

Balor was very much a creation of Gedo's protective booking, but even though I've never really been a fan of his wrestling, he was able to run with it and make it work beyond what most juniors were able to. If I had to make a parallel booking wise, I'd say he's like Edge. Someone who was groomed to be a star, took longer than expected to get there, but once he got a big chance and strong booking behind him, he became star.
What does puro gang think? @Honga Ciganesta @trick @Beautiful Bobby Eatin @TrueEpic08 @stro @The Rainmaker :mmmmm:

ps: I'm actually giving Gedo props, there was a time were I argued dude was the best booker in the world :wow:

Because Finn wasn't anointed as the next big star like Roman was, simple as that. People don't like to be dictated to, but the tipping point was that fans have since learned that if they bytch long and hard enough, things such as Wrestlemania 30 will happen. I REFUSE to believe Bryan winning the whole she-bang was the plan.

The fans chose Finn. Roman was chosen for them.

I agree with pretty much all of that. Utterly generic junior in the ring who hit it big with the BC, which allowed him to have the charisma and fukkery of 6 other dudes and uniqueness of US style booking to prop him up and distract you from how bland he is.

I know nikkas aren't in here acting like Roman wasn't the most over Shield member during their run :beli: you don't fukk with him now cool but don't act like he wasn't popping before the split. :martin:

This is true, Roman was most definitely the most over in the shield. He was the silent pretty-boy badass with the power moves. Of course his weaknesses were exposed once the Shield split but when the Sheild was together the crowd would go crazy when Roman would howl in the corner before landing the spear.

Deafening pop Roman got here

Roman's solo run could have been so good post-Shield if they didn't insist on turning him into Diet Cena :wow:

P.S. Shield has always been booked better as a group than individuals, ironic cuz they were more multi-dimensional as characters while playing their role in a GROUP ; and now they are a lot more one dimensional and bland while supposed to stand out as individuals :heh:

This af
Shield as a group low key had less storyline sense then the three have had yet were clewrly better because it played uo their strengths without exposing them sll. Im all for more groups if booked right. Look at new day or even the wyatts whenever the wwe actuslly booked them right

Said it once and I'll say it once again, the two biggest things that killed Roman were:

1) Daniel Bryan coming back for the Rumble after having to drop the belt due to injury and people not knowing just that he REALLY wasn't healthy.
2) CM Punk on Colt Cabana's podcast. Once he dropped the "Make Roman look strong" line, it was a wrap.

He was front-man status when The Shield had beef with the Wyatts. "Why don't you come down here and talk that noise." :birdman:

Crowd went crazy when he broke out of Sister Abigail in that Extreme Rules 3-on-3 tag match. :whoo:

He was the toast of the town in the Rumble that Batista ended up winning. Even when he tossed Seth, Cesaro, and Dean out at the same time...

...but that podcast and Bryan's return cut his legs out from under him more than the cheesy promos ever did.

this is all pretty much spot on. Idk how protected he was as he was booked as any ace would have been. The Edge comparison is spot on though. He took a while but earned his spot. He will be fine in WWE.

was that Gedo praise btw?! :wtf:
