Jennifer Lawrence also had The Hunger Games and X-Men, franchises like that cake like crazy.. especially book-turned-movie deals, they always pull multi-millions of dollars at the Box Office. Those definitely helped her get to where she currently is, and Jennifer is lucky because there's a lot of Hollywood actresses who would've loved roles like that. Lupita will be fine. Star Wars is a big deal, after all.

in lupita's case....
there is no previous black actress.
that lupita can phase out and be given similar nods for as a replacement like lawrence.
plus, hollywood will never open the door for us in film like that again.
as film is the highest and most profitable medium.
so, they won't allow us to create movies and have similar resources.
plus, have learned to tailor down the draw for black films like clockwork.
into the september fall to xmas time, and no other time.
so, they have been successful in limiting any advantageous idealogy.
that could be used to stimulate more blacks in film.
denzel is the only guy who is above semantics as a black hollywood actor.

that eventually, they will phase idris into his role in a global marketing based arena.
to try to outdraw denzel's appeal and gates.

they already have idris in the black guy martyr hero who dies every film.
when, in film's outside of historically based films, or comic book flicks.

Im always surprised that folks dont get the point of Hollywood. Its the propaganda department of the us armed services.

I thought the story was goofy and didn't care for her performance or fassbender. Nevertheless, the film served its purpose.

her role and fassbender's were so good performance, writing and in execution.
you have to step back and realize they were excellent heels and that is why they were awarded and given praise.
i seriously wanted to slap the dog shyt outta lupita every time she was on screen.
after it was obvious she was a c00n/uncle tom.

you feel no love for her, after you see her have no dignity about being a bedwench.
especially after the soap and the candlestick scenes.
so, that performance is oscar worthy cause they show an incredible evolution and psychology in that character.
that can make you feel a full gamut of emotions and still either be.
revolted, and be stuck with no way to feasibly take a side with lupita's character.
or, side with lupita's character.
when, given the circumstances of the character and the time.

that grey area is why she won the oscar.

personally, she has no talent whatsoever.

i would rather see bryant in zoe's role.

i pulled up list of movies currently showing in theater

she is not a comedic actress
i think she would be really out of place in horror
throw out the animated movies
also throw out the kid movies (starring kids - at most she could be their mom or something)
throw out the teen/high school stuff (unless a supporting role??)
stuff like 22 jump street or dracula don't seem right
adaptation of books- characters in book were culturely white, could maybe change that but have to significantly revise the novel's story

you are left with:
the equalizer (denzel- that is a male lead, she could support...??)
brad pitt war movie (...??)
addicted - went to another actress who seems much more suitable
robert downey jr and robert duvall in the judge- two high caliber talents, male driven film
keanu reeves project- again, that's A list
ben affleck project - she could be supporting character as his wife but that'd make her a bedwench, right?

so i guess what i'm trying to say is- what roles is she ready to handle??
she's obviously attractive but has a very distinct look
the other names listed can carry a movie on their name alone
denzel washington
brad pitt
robert downey jr
keanu reaves
ben affleck
she's just not at that level

i hope she keeps working and can build a career
then they can build projects around her name and star power
but right now , she's not ready

actually hollywood is not ready and only ready to be limiting.
it is not lupita's who is not ready.

the actress who plays michionne has a similar lowcut without the wig.
they both have the cute pixie fairy look.
yet, i can as a black man differentiate between both.

we already know what time it is.
i am just glad they both have acclaimed roles and have some way to garner a draw.

Right. I don't think these cats know (a) how long it takes to make a movie (b) the conditions mentioned in these actors' contracts (c) how major movies like Star Wars and Jungle Book will be next year.

Did OP even look at the IMDB of other major actors/actresses?

Jennifer Lawrence only has 2 movies coming out in 2015. MAtthew McConaughey only has one.

How is Lupita lacking, but having roles in 2 of next year's most anticipated releases? She's gonna be getting Sci-Fi/Drama money and children's movie money. She's good. Plus she will probably add on another film to close out 2015 to bring in 2016. SHe's still very new to the movie world. She's not gonna be getting lead acting roles straight out the box.

Look at Zoe Saldana's career. She was stuck in the shytty film segment for a long time before she ever got a whiff of a supporting role on Avatar. Now look at her career.. Lupita's career is skyrocketing. Star Wars already? And then the Jungle Book? That's awesome.

she had action movies and all types of movies given to her since avatar.
yet, she cooled and still got roles.
once, she downplayed her race and bedwenched for said consideration, too.

fukk the 'well she got a few magazine covers'. For the level of buzz she has 2 movies lined up is miniscule. Literally miniscule. If you look at actress filmography, you can see what movies they have coming out in the next 2 years.

The fact that she got nothing but two roles from this isn't good at all. And when Jungle book and star wars are done ? then what ? seriously. What will these people say in 2 years when she hasn't done anything since then.

Sorry, I think she got exploited and I find it all very very suspect. The offers simply don't match the hype.

Never really got the Lupita hype, I mean when have you ever seen so much hype for someone who won the oscar for SUPPORTING role? Might be a coincidence that the year a Black director wins Best Movie, he gets overshadowed by a Black Woman, but I doubt it.

Anne Hathaway in Les Miserables? Octavia Spencer in The Help? Meryl Streep in Kramer vs Kramer? Mo'Nique in Precious? Support roles do generate a lot of hype for the actress, it usually culminates into other roles, magazine covers, and contracts to endorse specific products. Not only that but she's gorgeous, and generally one of the best role models for young Black girls. How many fine, award-winning, Yale-educated, multi-lingual, famous Black women are out there, supporting Black girls? Give Lupita a chance to have a long and successful career.

She bought the film rights to Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's prize-winning novel Americanah and is set to star in it. Brad Pitt will be a producing the film under his Plan B banner.
