Why isn't Michael Jai White a bigger action star?

Dude can actually legit fight, has a great look for it (pause), has been an actor for years...why isn't he getting any big movies or as many roles as other guys. I enjoy his direct to video joints like Blood and Bone, but dude needs more looks.

He actually stayed away from action movies early on in his career, wanting to get roles because of his acting and avoid the stigma of an action star. But there are not many big roles for black guys and he never got his breakthrough, and after doing Undisputed II became more willing to be 'just' an action star, but it's a lane that doesn't lead to the mainstream like it used to anymore (see Scott Adkins also).
