Why isn't the BP soundtrack as popular as the movie?

i'm not comparing it to recent soundtracks or albums,i'm comparing it to the movie.

For instance
Soundtracks like purple rain, bodyguard,footloose,above the rim,new jack city,boyz n the hood etc had soundtracks that were equally as popular as the movie.

Black panther soundtrack isnt remotely getting talked about like the movie is.

What are you talking about? It is popular.

I don't remember any movie soundtrack that got as much buzz, and sales this fast as the BP album has. Not even the old 90s hood movie soundtracks were as heavily promoted as this one.

I'm contrasting it to the movie that it goes with. Do you feel the streams/sales match the success of the movie?

haven't heard the soundtrack in full because there's no need to bother my recycle bin. But the fact that TDE had their hands all over it lowered my expectations for the film. What surprised me is that the film was even worse than I expected (though I'm happy it got made and hopefully it sets off an important precedent).

Soundtracks havent been popping for mad long. This aint like how we had it in the 90s.
Soundtracks is almost irrelevant now.
