Outside of watching Team USA on TV, what experiences do you have with the sport? (Serious question)

None....But here is the spill.....

They said that boxing was too much of a "skilled" sport for black Americans...

They said that basketball was too much of a "skilled" sport for black Americans...

They said that football was too much of a "skilled" sport for black Americans...

Now. I know that's not what you're saying, but if I hear a narrative that appears to even slightly trend in that direction...I get defensive

Quick question for the US brehs :
Considering that the USWNT has been excellent for a couple of decades now (multiple Olympics gold medals, multiple WC titles), is football somehow viewed as some feminine sport ? Or is simply because all the good athletes are aiming at the Big 4 american sports ?

Welp. Credibility gone. Don't really want to here anymore from you after this. You don't know anything.

I don't understand how people with absolutely little to no knowledge of the sport feel like they can tell people with decades of experience and knowledge what it takes to win and succeed at this level. I just don't get it.

Being the most athletic will not guarantee you dominance in the sport of soccer. It's just that fukking simple.

Chill dude.

It's an off chance but he's still USA best hope for a great player in the next 5-7 years:yeshrug:

No he's not. He's a nice player but until he plays in a tougher league he won't be in the top 3 for the US.

Tim Howard is our best player.

:russ: at people acting like athletic ability isn't important when most of the best football players of all time combine athletic ability and great skill. Like Pele, Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo, C. Ronaldo, Thierry Henry, etc were no amazing athletes known for pace/speed and quickness. Like Ronaldinho was not the most athletic and most skilled player on the field when he was in his prime. That '98 world cup and 2000 Euro french team was full of fast, big athletes with high level skill. Same with many of Brazil's team. You can tell who on this thread are not athletic by the way they shoot down the advantage that athleticism can bring to the game of football.
who said it wasnt an advantage? :dahell:

no, what brehs said is that it isnt the biggest advantage. I love Power Football, ffs. :heh:

But if you run real fast but cant control the ball then you are Marvell Wynne.

Here's the point the dudes defending soccer are missing....

I am not saying you just roll a ball onto the field and some NFL & NBA players would be good at the game because they are athletic, what I am saying is had those guys that ended up in the NFL & NBA played soccer from a young age, a small percentage of those great athletes would have developed the skills necessary to improve Team USA soccer.
the brehs who would be best at soccer aren't playing in the NFL or NBA.

You telling me :youngsabo: doesn't fit the exact body type of a soccer player?

There are entirely too many WR/DBs and PG/SGs in those leagues that are between 5'8"-6'3" that fit the same exact body type as a soccer player.

Basically, once black kids start taking this shyt seriously, its a wrap.

USA training resources are unmatched by most of the world.

didn't u see the Cameroon - Croatia game? nikkas had to resort to elbow chops and shyt.

==
biggest problem is coaching. and like nikkas said on here most basketball and football players wouldn't be able to play it.

Why not? Anyone can be coached correctly if they've been introduced to the sport early and are willing to learn.

Anyone that thinks a pro of one sport can just pick up another sport late in life and be great at it is out of their minds. That's just fukking arrogance and stupidity to be honest, but the drive, determination and in some cases incredible athleticism necessary to make it to the NBA/NFL could have been used to drive them to a very high level in Soccer.
Yup. Exactly.

People acting like current football and basketball players wouldn't be smart enough to grasp the nuances and concepts of good soccer play if taught from a young age is laughable at best. :heh:

And saying elite US athletes won't have the agility or stamina to improve on what the US puts out there now? :mjlol:

Given Russy's aggressive and physical play, defender? :ld:
He'd be a dirt poor man's Kolo Toure. very good athletically but so many moments of :mindblown:
