All the physical talent in the world to be a top 10 player but his lack of mental acumen has held him back from being a dominant player his whole career. He should be a solid 20-25 point a game scorer year in and year out but he will never reach that level after a decade in the league. He is what he is and that is a knucklehead.
Speak for yOurself Ryan leaf ain't shytAnd? So is Ryan Leaf's. He's still a fukking bum.
JR got potential to be 18-20 ppg (on a bad team). Thats it.All the physical talent in the world to be a top 10 player but his lack of mental acumen has held him back from being a dominant player his whole career. His talent level just like someone like Beasley's is top 10-15. It's just the mental with him that has stopped him his whole career. He was an 18 ppg scorer on a decent Knicks team last year. And he was in the mid teens for years with a pretty good Denver squad. No way if he was more disciplined and took his craft seriously that he couldn't be a 20-25 ppg scorer on a contender.JR got potential to be 18-20 ppg (on a bad team). Thats it.
He can never be a top 10 player.
Well, there's a difference between having "mental issues" and low basketball IQ. JR major problems aren't just simply mental. He doesn't fully understand the game of basketball. His shot selection is terrible. Basketball IQ is a skill, if not a talent, that shouldn't be separated from the other basketball skills/talent. Bynum and Rodman have disciplines and mental issues. JR just doesn't know better. His talent level just like someone like Beasley's is top 10-15. It's just the mental with him that has stopped him his whole career. let's keep it all the way real brehs, if it weren't for George Karl being the coach for the majority of JR's career, that cokehead would be balling in the Philippine League with Renaldo Balkman right now.
Karl did what his father should have done and disciplined his spoiled ass.
They weren't pursued by more teams because they are both headcases hence me saying JR Smith has mental issues. What else do you call untying a players shoelaces during a game? JR may not be as good as dribbler as some of those players but he can shoot with most of them when he's on and the only reason why he is a lackluster defender is because of effort not ability. You say his career has been great I think it has been subpar and believe he would have been better if he went to college for a year or two.Well, there's a difference between having "mental issues" and low basketball IQ. Beside, JR is nothing but a (volume) scorer. He doesn't does anything else on the basketball court. Not a great passer or defender. And He doesn't score in too many different ways either. He isn't more skilled than Eric Gordon, Tyreke Evans, or even Oj Mayo. Let alone vets like Joe Johnson, Jamal Crawford, and Monta Ellis. So I don't think he has potential to be anywhere close to top 10 talent. In fact, I think his career has been great so far for player of his calibre. I don't think he can top his last year's stats.
If JR (and Beasly) was as talented as you make him out to be, he would've been pursued by more teams last year.
