Yeah they were ahead of their time. In actuality, a game like that today combined with some AI tech would be insane.

i was just thinking it would be cool af if someone could hook up a generative AI to a game like SMB1 or SMB3 that just generate the level as you go, adjusting difficulty by how well youre playing. you could have never ending levels that never repeat, and never play the same game twice

edit: they kinda did it with marioGPT but its not quite what im describing above
