Why New Jersey Doesn't Let People Pump Their Own Gas

the upside if this policy is that it probably leads to fewer robberies and carjacking's at gas stations.

it often threw me off when I worked in jersey tho cause I would forget from time to time.

I live in Jersey and the WaWa down the street from me has at least one car jacking a week. Someone got jacked while they were putting air in their tires last week.
Those gas attendants don’t gaf. You leave your car to go in and get coffee. They will (knowingly or unknowingly) let anyone drive off with you car. They’ll even give the jacker your CC before they pull off!

I remember I was doing a road trip to NYC and stopped in Jersey for gas. I hopped out and tried to fill up and the attendant ran out waving his hands like "nooooo"
