The efficency Harden maintained while taking that many shots had only been done by MJ. How much better do you think a guy who was a worse shooter and had a worse shot diet and never even reached Harden's efficiency numbers even in good offensive environments would do? Harden's performance that year in relative terms was already unprecedented. What makes Harden worse as a player impacts him more in the playoffs than in the regular season, where he performed at a level that frankly Kobe never had., and that includes years before the scoring explosion. It's basically similar to David Robinson vs Hakeem, where DRob pup up more impressive regular season numbers because the regular season allows his strengths to exceed his flaws.Kobe averaged 35 with Chris mihm, kwame brown, and smush Parker on the floor. You don’t think he’d eclipse harden with today’s typical spacing lineups? Kobe wouldn’t shoot more 3s if he came up in this era, given that being what the best players do? This is my point. We’re going back and comparing advanced stats and they don’t account for the era. I know Kobe is better than harden and if his 35 ppg year was in 2018, it likely would’ve been higher and/or more efficient.
