With the exception of a Diggy so to speak, they usually don't try to have their own identity.. for example: ODB and Eazy E's sons both have damn near the same name as their dad and the same style, u have to stick out.. be creative and dont just try to ride the coattails of your fathers legacy. That comes with a certain expectation that will never be reached no matter how good u may be, strictly for nostalgic reasons it will never be as good as the real thing. Thats why you carve out your own lane and still pay homage, but dont be a carbon copy.
I think the only way a rappers son will be a successful rapper is if he plays it cool and doesnt come out the gate on some "(insert rappers name)'s son, Lil/Young (insert rappers name) debuts his new song!".. they shouldnt even acknowledge being someones son to the general public until they get established

all jokes aside...I read the thread and instantly thought Romeo because I actually bought this album....
This album was actually good. It was lil kid pop rap but it was very well put together.
I think its even safe to say he was respected for what he did. I dont remember anyone having any gripes about Romeo back in the day.....Matter fact, his edge was that he wrote his own rhymes in contrast to Bow Wow. What was ill about Romeo was that he seemed like the future of No Limit....Kinda like Lil Wayne would soon become.....It was more about No Limit looking like it was just getting broader.......That never happened tho. Cash Money would actually become what No Limit was hyped up to be......But Romeo had a shining moment. Dude went on to have a TV show.

I think also with him, he came out around the same time no limit hit as big success. It was pretty much a family affair and not really riding a 20 year legacy (even tho no limit been around for a long ass time before then).

This intro alone gave Romeo this bad azz image.....I remember when I first heard this.....Master P was new to me and I thought he was this gutter drug dealing ass down south dude and hearing Romeo curse like that...I was positive Romeo was gonna grow up dysfunctional. I'm glad I was wrong on that.
