I dont believe in god, and I’m certainly not religious.
So it confuses me how religious people not only vote for religious issues, but support issues that contradict with their own social and economic welfare just to defer to religious issues.
So yeah it makes complete sense to vote for republicans on trans issues.
Look, coalitions are fragile so if you were voting democrat because of big picture things, but you disagreed with democrats A LOT…you were overlooking a lot of stuff to pull the lever.
Some issues topple the dam holding back the tide of resentment and cause a flip for you to just stop the pretense and leave the party altogether.
Lets say you’re a moderate democrat and you:
- disagreed with the BLM protests,
- you think speech on campus is too hostile to moderates and conservatives,
- you think Kaepernick shouldn’t have kneeled,
- you think pronouns are weird but you ignore it,
- you think the left wing of the party is too hostile to business
- you are annoyed by illegal immigrants getting aid, etc
- …but you OVERLOOK IT AND VOTE DEMCORAT ANYWAYS…because in the end you know its better than the republicans generally economically and socially for everyone...
…then you find out…there boys in your daughters gym class and competing against her in sports? Thats it. fukk it. You already had problems with democrats and if they can’t even fix this then the party is lost!
Thats how many people see things.
It doesn’t have to be rational, but when things break…it’s over.
