It really depends on where you're from. People like moving. :yeshrug:

A lotta NYers move to FL. A lotta Floridians move to GA. I got a chick in GA trying to move to Cali. It's that whole grass is greener thing. I take it you're from FL that's why you're trying to get out.
You're correct but it's deeper than thinking something is better on the other side.

Blacks that want to pursue professional opportunities. I, personally, know a few college peers who left to kickstart their professional careers elsewhere. The Beacon Council wrote a paper about the Brain Drain of South Florida. Saying South Florida educates people for the rest of the country. :yeshrug: I want to be in the entertainment industry so South Florida doesn't present enough opportunities. None really since I do not speak fluent English.

This is really what it comes down to for anywhere...if you're from a place where there aren't that many opportunities for upward mobility, it's only natural to leave. I just lurked in this thread cause I figured the number one reason would be jobs...and it is.

It reminds me of why I left Pittsburgh/Western PA...at the end of the day...there were just no job opportunities for young people altogether...it was beyond a black and white issue. Pittsburgh has been second in the nation for population decline. We've had our own brain drain since the 80s where young college educated people would eventually just move to greener pastures in bigger cities where they can find work in the field they studied and it created a huge age gap because of it.

It probably wouldn't be like this if there were more industrial based jobs like in the 90s...but those are all gone. It takes a college education and a degree to move up anywherein society now since those type of jobs are outsourced have moved to service economy jobs where they require more education than actual skill.

Championships
States With The Lowest Taxes
To rank the state’s tax burdens, the Tax Foundation compared the total taxes that state residents pay as a percentage of per capita income. Included in the total taxes are local taxes such as property taxes and local sales taxes. The states whose residents pay the least in taxes are:

  • Alaska at 6.4% of income
  • Nevada at 6.6% of income
  • Wyoming at 7% of income
  • Florida at 7.4% of income
  • New Hampshire at 7.6% of income

It’s interesting to note that none of these states have an individual income tax.

This is my reason as well, also Hispanics scoop up a lot of opportunities since they tend to bring in friends and family at a much higher level that other races. Blacks down here tend to be into flossing and chasing women and not coming together to build anything.

I meet alot of brothers and sisters that really dislike the atmosphere. The ones who love here are those with the disposable income to maintain and keep up with the jones. Single sisters usually leave once they realize they can't meet a decent, educated brother down here. Everyone pretty much heads to Atlanta. ATL is a easier version of SFLA.

All those states mention stale in a strong "minority" middle-class. It attracts people with money already trying to evade state income tax.

UM is a top 50 school, ranked 47 last year.
Most of U of Coral Gables (FSU fan :russ:) recruits most of their students from the Northeast so that point is null and void. U of Coral Gables is actually a safe school for Ivy League and top 20 school rejects. I garnered interest from them coming out of Miami Dade College but passed for less prestigious Florida International University. :yeshrug:
