I like the direction he's going in the vid but he missed important elements. Two things usually make people stupid. First, smart people intentionally making people dumb to fit an agenda. The ideology and spreading of far right-wing conservativism is a perfect example. Second, you have people who hoard knowledge for a select few to keep power in whatever compacity. We all see it in some form at work. Also, look at the legal profession. Laws are written in ways ordinary literate people cannot interpret them. Therefore, you have to pay a lot of money for someone else to do it. :francis:

There is a strain of stupidity that is enhanced by social media.

You could be talking to someone who believes the earth is flat. You can show them calculations and all sorts of evidence and they'll just say "nah it's all fake. You're wrong"

We can't have disagreements in opinion when people can't even agree on facts.
They used to think people were dumb for lack of information. The internet disproved that. Yes you won't show or tell such folks anything they don't stand on logic or facts.

54% of Americans are at or below a 7th grade reading level. This is how you end up with MAGA or any anti intellectual groups who are vulnerable to misinformation.

I remember seeing all the arguments with anti vaxxers and they'd repeat the same falsehoods like confusing vaccines with cures. Someone would direct them to information explaining how vaccines work only for the person to respond in a way that proves they didn't read it. They aren't smart enough to read something that would change their thought patterns. This is why you always see people post information through a YouTube video instead of an article. Then they'll post "information" or news from a random twitter account instead of a trusted source like the NY Times.

If you're an adult at a 6th grade reading level you're not going to be able to think critically or understand certain concepts. Trump supporters didn't even know that tariffs would mean they pay more for goods. That's how all these uneducated whites constantly vote against their best interests. Just feed them an emotional or religious angle and they'll vote to keep themselves in poverty.

The 5 bullet points the video highlights on how to avoid stupidity:

1. Never surrender your critical thinking
2. Beware of group think
3. Recognize the signs of manipulation
4. Resist the comfort of easy answers
5. Seek external and internal liberation

I mean it's been obvious forever that stupid people are stopping the evolution of society.

trump himself said back in the 80s or 90s that if he ever ran for presidency, he'd choose republicans cause they are stupid. He literally told everyone what he was going to do and did it :dead:

Out of all richest countries in the world, America has the worst educational system. Millions of retards who could not show you 5 countries on the map if their life depended on it.

It sounds like you're taking away accountability from people who can educate themselves.
