Some of us been skeptical about Perry for a long time tho.
With the studio tho, his profile went up dramatically, and now people are hoping for a black movie/media mecca of utmost quality.

And Perry as up to now, clearly isn't aiming for the same thing.
A black Hollywood if you will, to combat the mass whiteness of real Hollywood.

Some clearly feel bamboozled in their past support.

Tyler perry is out of touch. My issue with Tyler is him talking about writing all his scripts. He needs to hire writers to help him cause he needs it. There is nothing wrong with having a writing team. Most successful shows do. Look at Issa Rae, Courtney Kemp and donald glover

that they need help doing what they always do?

that they need help doing what they always do?

At this point in your life, you know what you're gonna get from a Tyler Perry project.
If you think it's lacking that badly, don't watch it.

That mindset is often followed by stagnation, which then is followed by collapse.

If more and more people are speaking out against his product, only a fool would ignore public sentiment.

All people are asking for is quality/quality control.
And nikkas are acting like people are asking dude to fund the next Star Wars or something.
All dude has to do, is create an imprint studio, to give people who expect more than a TP production level filmmaking.
Give upncomers a small inexpensive playground n see what they spin.

you're right. But let me say this. House of Payne is one of the longest running black sitcoms. But not one person puts it on the level of FResh prince, Cosby, or even Family matters. I like Have and have nots. however, Tyler perry's writing could use improvement. Just because your show got renewed doesn't mean you can't work on your craft.

Black people (and white people) made this man rich. Now that he got his, people are mad that he's not bending to their will. But why should he? He's literally doing everything himself, independently. He's hiring black actors, paying black stagehands, funding his own projects, and even has his own studio that is bigger than all of the other ones.

When tyler perry first came out there were only a few black filmmakers producing at a quality level. None had their own studio.
with tyler perry's studio, there's a certain quality to now adhere to. if he owns 100% of everything why go the bare minimum? It's a bad look because it shows how he thinks of his audience.
plus with the success of black panther and the fact that black content is resurging. People are wondering why tyler is using the same old tricks. He's going to have to grow to maintain and grow his fanbase.

I am waiting for him. I'm just answering the question of why people are ragging on him.
I don't expect this man to immediately make a 200 million film about fantasy and epics because he hasn't even tried to make a low budget film doing that.
by 2022 though he should start making some more creatively diverse films.
maybe a Marcus garvey film, Mansa Musa(i think that's greenlit by another studio), anything besides the tired tyler perry originals.

But why all of a sudden im seening multiple anti Perry articles after he built his studios?

Same reason they came at Jay After he started Tidal and challenged Google, apple and spotify. Can't have a black man with too much power.

But onthe flipside Tyler does need to evolve and grow with his audience. You can't keep making the same product and expect the same results. At some point you will fall off. His new Netflix movie still has that low budget TV feel and looks as if he cant afford a dope cinematographer. No real excuse for that with his resources. But he also deserves some time to see what he does with studio over the next few years.
