I bought a 500 buck lenovo which comes with 1920X1080 Native resolution which is not "Retina" but good enough and 6 GB of ram. Very hard high quality plastic casing which is solid (similar to PVC). Threw in a 90 dollar 256 GB solid state in there and I was set to go

I spent 850 on a Lenovo and got 12 gigs of ram, an SSD, plus a discrete graphics card (Geforce 750M). Only thing it doesn't have is a retina display, but 1920x1080 is good for 15 inches imo. Couldn't imagine spending 2x as much for the same shyt with "a better operating system".

But then, I'm cheap.

My coworker has one and he says 13 is perfect for the macbook but since she does graphic design and won't be mobile with it I was thinking 15. I dunno everyone is saying 13 so might go that way.

That is the discount. If you go to the regular page without the student discount there is no Mac for $999.
