Because he knew the Heat were declining. Wade was finished and he had only Bosh, who would want another max contract, who else could they attract via FA (if available). The trade route would be weak because they had no assets. Cavs had a set team with minimal moves to make (Love trade).

Yeah that's true...Im working under the assumption all 3 would have been back. Just Cleveland though? That roster aint that good.

because he wanted to play at home

its one game, hell philly won their first game last year

guess what cavs will still win 55-65 games and be in the finals

he obviously wants to win a ring in Cleveland

i think thats a pretty clear answer to your question :ld:

He had nothing left to accomplish in MIA

He felt like finishing business in CLE and winning a title there

But that def ain't happening this year

I thought he'd stay in MIA another two years Atleast.

I disagree with almost all of this. It's not about playing at home or not having anything to accomplish in Miami, it's about being in a competitive situation as he ages and declines. He once said before that he wants to be able to compete for championships late in his career like Duncan, so he made the jump to a young, blooming team in Cleveland (which was also good for business :ehh:) and found himself in a situation where he can basically control front office decisions and have good running mates for years. And if it doesn't pan out he still has a 2 year deal to jet elsewhere.

no they're not.

Believe it or not they're really young outside of Duncan/Ginobili

Parkers not young. And whenever they all retire(soon) it's not something that should determine Lebron leaving the Heat. Even if Wade was done...him and Bosh with the Heat role players is a better tandem than Love/Bron imo

There's no Birdman on Cleveland...

Yeah so am I. With Bosh and LeBron, who else do they have and who else can they get. FA market was thin in the areas they need improvement. Plus getting murked by the Spurs in the finals cemented LeBron leaving. Cavs have usable pieces with Love and Irving. Waiters still has untapped potential, plus additions in Marion can help. Not saying they can win it all, but in the weak ass East, they can easily win the Conference.

Strictly from a basketball standpoint...

First off Riley being there makes them a serious team to begin with.

He leaves the Heat with two proven players in Wade and Bosh...a legend in Riley...role players he finally got used to playing with...to go back to friggin Cleveland?

Kevin Love? Kyrie Irving? SOme scrub from St Mary's???

Call me reactionary but it still doesnt make any sense basketball wise. The Spurs are an awesome team...make some tweaks and come back better...dont run to an inferior franchise.

/end rant

it makes no sense basketball-wise...only emotionally

he wanted to go home:yeshrug:

Funny how he got a pass for skipping town after what happened in the Finals under the guise of this homecoming charade. Thats why I respect the likes of a Popovich/Duncan they could have easily hung it up after 2013, they didnt have anything to prove. I didnt see any of them pack their bags. The hunger they showed last year is what I was expecting from the Heat with LeBron but I guess he's not that competitive.

1 game though :bryan:

Man mods yall gotta get control of this

He may have left Miami too early but it's literally only been 1 game of 82. The Cavs weren't winning in year one anyway

This is really a Bron hate thread

Lebrons basically on a one year deal though...this seems like a marketing ploy more than anyting...if he wanted to win this year Miami was the choice.
