My man, right after that, we had a little thing called the Oil Embargo on top of a recession. It cost $20+ BILLION to do it in 1969. The money necessary to repeat the missions had to be used for social welfare programs to support the ranks of the unemployed, and excessive fuel costs since we were (and still very much are) dependent upon oil.

plus Vietnam wasn't exactly cheap :merchant:

well back in my "pre-mod" days and the "debate" about what is or isn't a troll, rather than argue on the trolls post about the validity of a troll I took it upon myself to create a group of regulars (if you didn't get the invite before my bad) to discuss "trolls", particularly when they were new. The object being that when someone new comes in that is an obvious troll (kyoon) we'd agree to steer clear of that fukery. But let's say just your run of the mill ignorant person wanted to say something we'd maybe cut him some slack and actually try to inform him before tossing a scarlet "T" on them.

:manny:
the group is all but dead.:dead::deadmanny:

So yeah, fuk what you heard if we're going to HL anywhere it's going to come on the backs of the stronger posters. Leadership. Mods have made it more or less clear that the forum will be left to grow "organically".

My thoughts, we get a group of solid posters, and by this i mean people who are not trolls who believe what they believe and are capable of being fair. I'm inviting a small group at first to help in early decisions to set some ground rules up and the such.

We set this group up first, discuss what we need then start making pushes on mods and the greater HL forum in general to direct the site back to where it needs to be.

the moon is disproportionately large compared to every other moon we have observed so far, like way too big for Earth. i saw a video discussing the geometric proportions of the moon and one thing that caught my attention is that is it just the right distance and size to perfectly eclipse the sun from the Earth's perspective...not over cover it, not too small to cover it all. just right for a perfect eclipse.

i'll try to find the video.

Moon is about 1/3 the size of the Earth. I've never heard any literature about our moon being disproportionately large for the planet. I will say, to your point about the eclipses, this is true. Its really just a coincidence that man holds dominion over the Earth at this point in the solar systems history to observe this phenomenon. The moon is not a static object, as its orbit actually increases in radius by a couple inches every year. So you can imagine in a million or so years the full eclipse will be a thing of the past.

I just don't buy we landed on the moon in the 60's and haven't been back there yet with all these technological advancements....

Would you buy that we landed on the moon in the 60's and with all these technological advancements people keep going there and we aren't told about it? I feel like that would be a way better conspiracy
