so your position is that everyone who makes 150k a year and lives paycheck to paycheck, about 8 thousand dollars a month after taxes, is a "victim of capitalism" who doesnt have car notes and eating out expenses that they could cut. no personal responsibility at all, just finger pointing

:laff:christ is that weak
no, unlike you, i don't make sweeping assumptions. i understand how some people making six figures are living paycheck to paycheck whereas you who say shyt like this

making 6 figures living paycheck to paycheck  get your shyt together

the article clearly wasn't about dikkheads tricking off money. you want that conversation, go to TLR. what's the point of responding like that when the article is discussing societal changes - increasing (non conspicuous consumption) debt + COL - that have eroded the comfort that six figure salaries once guaranteed?

like i said, you're a clown who's unable to stick to the topic at hand, just had to get off an unrelated hot take

fair enough. i barely read the article :mjlol:

but i'm sorry, if you can't budget the 8 thousand dollars a month you make after taxes at 150k a year, then what the fukk kinda sympathy am i supposed to be eliciting when median income in america is 35k a year? this is "worlds smallest violin" kinda shyt

the article isn't asking for sympathy...if your take on the US setting up a society where even people making 100k+ can struggle is "i don't give a fukk" then you're clearly being a hater based on people's income (which you have done numerous times on this board). you literally have metros where if you're a single person making 100-150k you still can't afford to buy anything - i have friends in this exact predicament out here. so yes, we should care that people who make 100k can't get ahead in some areas because it further proves how jacked up shyt is further down

so what solution are you proposing? and keep in mind that you're a landlord :lolbron:

if you make 100k a year and "cant afford to buy anything", then take your highly marketable skillset elsewhere. there's bigger problems in america than 6 figure earners. ask the democratic party and their platform :mjlol:

my solution for CA has always been for companies to be more distributed, that's what caused certain areas to become unaffordable - too many people wanting to live near the employment centers, while affordable areas = 2hr commutes. if companies keep this remote work setup or set up satellite offices instead of having 10k people come to one HQ, it might help bring down the cost of housing.

the other issue is bullshyt jobs that demand (masters) degrees, got a whole generation in educational debt for jobs that tap out at 70-80k a year, not sure how you tackle that other than the next generation of kids deciding they won't play along and forcing companies to remove those requirements.

Relevant video. Her main point is that the increased cost of middle-class expectations and aspirations have not kept up with professional class incomes.

this hits a lot of it. Especially if you’re trying to live in any major metropolitan city.

i think the corona is definitely gonna help lessen the demand in cities and transition to more work from home, which frankly would be a ridiculously good thing. probably the only good thing to come out of this. i dont see how else supply and demand on apartments comes down

You should read it, I mean 20% of people making 100k don’t have an emergency fund :dahell:

i guess it's because i've always been about my money that i just cant relate to that. i lived with a roommate for a while, didnt spend money on bullshyt, and stacked the fukk up to 6 figures. so if you're making 6 and can't get to the point where you have 2 paychecks in the bank, what the fukk :yeshrug: make changes in your lifestyle and cut your bills. because the government isn't coming to help people who make over 100 thousand dollars, i can tell you that much

Don't answer the troll who just admitted they didn't read the article.

This is a conversation that needs to be held in real life with alot of people. I definitely saw this when I was living in Atlanta
