shyt lowers your glycogen.
that will make you susceptible.
to getting a sore throat.
Then progressing to laryngitis.
Or even worse strep.

Cleans your teeth supposedly
I tried it as a kid in the 90s when my NOI stepdad tried to put me on. It doesn't taste good. If they made one that taste like sugarcane I would have been on it

Not sure who was supplying you.

Yet tbat shyt was naturally sugary sweet.
like lower level sugar cane.

Plus if you smoked blunts with the shyt.
It was just like chewing gum.
while smoking blunts, beadies, Djarum, or menthol dunhills

You make yourself suscepible.
to gum cancer.

So i cut chewing that shyt out and smoking dunhills.

all together cold turkey in 1996.

i still chief daily tho. Not giving uo the cure to ptsd for nobody.

It's a common practice in Africa, and likely other parts of the world. I'd imagine the 90s trend had to be influenced by immigrants at some point.

I have a family member whose a doctor and he said he's seen some patients from Nigeria who came here and had no cavities despite never brushing traditionally. Just chewing on that shyt

if they made a sweet one it would rot your teeth the opposite of what you need.

and anyone who has to ask what a chew stick is has been separated from organic living far too long.

Funny enough a lot of medicine is found in the roots, leaves and bark of trees. Naturally people think of consuming fruit only but there's a lot that be consumed if you consider the whole tree.

Just today I saw someone with these
images

They are picked from the forest.

Mukombero is the local name in Kenya for Mondia whitei, a perennial, woody vine with aromatic roots known for its aphrodisiac properties and other traditional medicinal uses, including improving appetite, boosting the immune system, and aiding in the management of issues like high blood pressure. The plant's roots have a distinct ginger and vanilla-like flavor and are used to make powders, juices, wines, and other products to add value to the raw herb.

Key Characteristics & Uses
    • Aromatic Roots:
The plant is characterized by its aromatic, pale yellow to brown roots, which have a flavor similar to ginger and licorice with a hint of vanilla.
    • Aphrodisiac Properties:
It is widely known and valued for its libido-boosting effects on both men and women by improving blood flow to the genitals.
    • Medicinal Benefits:
Besides its sexual health benefits, Mukombero is used for various health conditions, including:
        • Improving appetite
        • Supporting the immune system
        • Aiding in the management of high blood pressure and cholesterol
        • Improving brain function and memory
        • Detoxifying the body
    • Products:
Mukombero is consumed in various forms, including:
        • Powder, which can be added to drinks or food
        • Juice
        • Wine
Cultivation & Conservation
    • Cultivation:
Mukombero is found in moist forests, such as the Kakamega rainforest in Western Kenya. It is easily cultivated from seed and is harvested between April and September.
    • Conservation:
Due to factors like climate change, human activities, and poor harvesting methods, Mukombero is facing the threat of extinction. Researchers and conservators are working to save the herb from disappearing.

Also Masaai's have these sticks they use instead of toothbrushes. I don't know its local name but its pretty good. Edit. Miswaki or Miswak. I'm gonna ask this maasai about it. He brings me random medicines. Gave me this little seed that I took and the whole night was on the toilet but not in a painful way. Cleaned up my whole digestive system
