I asked a raiders fan at the jets game the same question weeks back and he said the new regime wanted their own people. Dude also said Allen would probably be fired by mid season.

stupidity/impatience

outside of maybe JAX, no team needs more talent than the Raiders. you have to be patient, let a guy implement his systems in the first 3 years and then take a temp of the team. how are the young players developing, getting the most out of guys etc

you don't give a guy 1 year in any scenario, unless its a ready-made contender which usually isn't looking for a coach

Cincy will take it, they have mad weapons and will succeed with him as OC

All I remember was seeing his "we're a stupid team" press conference at the end of that season. Immediately I had flashbacks to Callahan's "dumbest team in America" press conference back in '03, a year after taking the Raiders to the SB, & he was fired shortly after... On some real real ish, I turned to my brother and said to him, "Um, Jackson's done as the Raiders HC."

He asked me: "Why?"

My reply was: "Because Bill Callahan just donned blackface & gave Hue Jackson a Bill Callahan moment." It was deja-vu & I knew it was over...

Btw, before you defend his Raider tenure too much, lets not forget it was he who had pushed to send those high draft picks to Cincy for what was, at the time, a :flabbynsick: Carson Palmer who had been tending to his lawn & garden & threatening retirement all summer.
"As far as the draft picks, what we have to give up, I never hesitated because I know exactly what I'm getting," Jackson said at the time.

So here was a guy who had pushed for a trade that became a setback, and the guy who he pushed for flamed out, calling his team "dumb." Raider management saw dat ish, gave a collective :childplease:, and back to Cincy went Hue...

They wanted to get rid of any and everybody connected to Al Davis. Even though Hue Jackson was behind back to back 8-8 season (and we was within a fieldgoal of the playoffs one of those years).

The past 7 seasons before Hue we didn't win no more than 5 games:

2003: 4-12
2004: 5-11
2005: 4-12
2006: 2-14
2007: 4-12
2008: 5-11
2009: 5-11
2010: 8-8 (Hue Jackson Offensive Coordinator)
2011: 8-8 (Hue Jackson Head Coach)
2012: 4-12
2013: 4-12
2014: 3-13

We was seeing improvement with Hue. I believe in 2011 we was within a last second field goal of going to the playoffs.

Hue calling a 20 yard pass play instead of running the ball on 3rd and 1 to beat the Lions is all I remember from Hue Jackson. He is the reason the Raiders didn't make the playoffs. For that, I didn't give a shyt that he was fired.

He was talented though.

FWIW, Palmer looks like an MVP candidate this year. If they let Hue give up so much for Palmer they should have given it at least another year.

Also this thread was bumped because I think he should get another chance as a HC :yeshrug:
