IWW isn't even is the same realm as Illmatic. A total drop off in quality. even the so called great songs on IWW aren't as good as an apostles warning or god part 3 or nightime vultures.

Take it in Blood and I Gave You Power are better than any song on Hell on Earth.

because you responded in the matter that you did, you just showed me that the point i was trying to push across went completely over your head. i don't give a fukk about how famous/unfamous the producers were or weren't. the fact is, the trackmasters didn't have half the talent of pete rock or large professor, or anyone from the first album did period.
also, they didn't even have the best beats on said album either. the way that you're trying to make this a mainstream vs backpacker issue, just lets me know how foolish you really are. since you can't seem to grasp the simple concept of the message, here it is:
the trackmasters just weren't that good. go settle for your average beats and act like they were really that nice. i can only imagine the kind of hate the production on this album would really recieve if it wasn't nas over the beats. all eyez on me and life after death were both great produced albums. conicidentally, i don't think i should like them according to you, since i'm such a backpacker.:troll:
ol gotta smack you in the head to understand ass motherfukker

How dont get how the trackmasters wernt that good did you here the messge or affurmituve action or watch dem nikkas

Whole lotta history being rewritten in this thread.

First off Nas blatantly attempted to cross over with "IWW" and still managed to get outsold by virtually every single one of his peers....none of which had to change their style to succeed. People are applying 2013 message board logic to a 1996 album. 2x plat was not some kind of event in '96....it was pretty damn :ld: for a mainstream rapper. To put it into perspective LL Cool J went 2x plat in '96 10+ years deep into his career.

So nah....the album wasn't vilified by "backpackers", it was vilified by people that bought into Nas on "Illmatic" and had the rug pulled out from under them on "IWW". Including his peers and close friends....Nas has said himself that people like Q-Tip flat out told him "you're gonna fukk around and end your career trying to cross over". If Nas had Trackmasters and all that shyt on "Illmaic" I guarantee this wouldn't be an issue.

So that's the primary problem with the album. And before people try to sit here and argue with me, Nas obviously felt the same way which is why he had a Premiere produced lead single for his next album. He wanted to cross back over. This is also why he's spent the better part of 2 decades talking about "bringing back that Illmatic vibe". It's why thousands of people pay to see him perform "Illmatic" in it's entirety at SXSW and RTB, not "IWW". It's why he named his come-back album "Stillmatic", not "IWW2".

Affirmative Action is such a wack song. fukkin' pancake drumwork and spanish guitar BS. epitomizes the sound of IWW/Wackmasterz.
