i never understood a point of a trade deadline anyway. If u wanna trade someone the last game of the season so be it. But by the playoffs u can't

Because of the Cousins situation last year where he got traded literally right after the ASG. In Silver’s words they want players to be relaxed during their break instead of having to worry about whether or not they’ll be traded when they get back

This would cause all types of fukkery. A part of me would be intrigued but I also understand the purpose of it being mid-season

The reasons stated and the one everyone’s forgetting:

The regular season got pushed up 2 weeks. The deadline was gonna get pushed up too.

But the old deadline was right after the all star break and the new one is 2 weeks before.

If the main reason for the deadline being moved up was to avoid a situation like what happened with Boogie last year, then I think it was a horrible idea and another example of Silver fixing some shyt that wasn’t broke

Normally the deadline would be after the break. Last year wasn’t a normal occurrence. Given how piss poor last all star weekend was, you’d think Silver would encourage the deadline to happen at that time.

THE Boogie thing was a very bad look and the teams that get good players have more time before the playoffs to intergrate them
