A little town called none ya got damn bidness
Im watching Clash of the Champions (available on the WWE Network for the awesome price of $9.99 :troll:) where Flair vs. S.Steiner headlined and this question popped up in my head.I was a youngster in the early 90s but I remember him being one of the better athletes and wrestlers around. Was it politics that prevented him from getting a huge push, or am I thinking that he was better than he actually was? In my young mind he had the look and skill-set to Main Event back then

He wasnt ready then. To go from a successful tag team to successful singles wrestler isnt that seamless (Right Roman? :ld: ). Plus the match wasnt that good. I remember Flair being super off that match. I remember the fans being behind the push though so who knows? Flair might have buried him backstage

It was only when he colored his hair blonde and became Big Poppa Pump that he was ready to me in the main event scene. Prior to that no one looked at Scott Steiner and said future world champion. If that was the case he would have gotten a singles run years ago. But he wasn't as good and ruthless on the mic back then and he just didn't have what it took to be the man in the company at that time.

Scott Steiner's only prayer of a main event spot was the Big Poppa Pump character and that couldnt have possibly happened before it actually did and done as well as it did. The early 90's couldnt have dealt with Steiner shoot style interviews back then. At best he would have been the Diamond Studd. Steiner got on at the perfect time

He could have been pushed as a top face back then based solely off the good will he engendered as a part of the Steiner Brothers tag team and through his incredible athleticism.
And while at that point Scotty Steiner wasn't considered a very scintillating personality we all know that he had it in him. WCW just needed to pull the trigger and actually put the time and energy into turning him into the next Sting level face.

he felt flair sabotaged him in tshat match and thats where a lot of his flair anbimosity comes from
THIS. Also WCW actually wanted to put the title on him and he turned it down out of loyalty to his brother. He felt that if he was the world champ then his Rick would be fukked and left with nothing to do so he turned them down and stayed with the Steiner Brothers.
